Im planning on buying a carbon fiber hood and the rear hatch from seibon. This is because my car had a lot of hail damage recently and the cost of repairs would be around 1,050. I was thinking if i got the Carbon Fiber Hood and Hatch, And repainted the whole car a MERCEDES black how much would it cost me? Could you give me an est. on how much repainting a whole car would cost? THanks so much!

Uh, a whole lot more than 1k. I believe I saw quotes for 3-5K. Just toss the CF parts on and call it a day.

sorry i didnt make this more clear. My absolute Max I could spend is 3,000 on this. So 1 thousand would be basically gone for the CF parts. Is 2Grand enough to paint the whole thing??

Sorry but 2K will NOT get you a fully repainted car. For a thorough paintjob, you're looking at least $4K-$8K depending on shop. If it only cost 2K, you'd see a lot more custom colored Z's out there. I'd just save that money for something else like wheels.

if hes just plannin on doin the outside of the car, he might be able to get it all painted for 2gs or less. i repainted my VW, added some pearl, cost me $1400 in materials. did the work myself.

You'd barely get a Maaco paint job for 2K. A decent paint job (unless you want to completely F up your Z) is going to cost you 6-8K. Put it this way, my body kit alone was 2K to paint. That didn't require any masking, parts removal, etc.

Yep, and that was one of the cheap quotes. I'm not comfortable paying someone "on the side" to do this kind of stuff because if they F it up, you can't go slap a warranty or guarantee in their face. At least paying a shop to do it gives you some flexibility to say you're not satisfied.

Additionally, my kit has a LOT of fiberglass, and that price included the prepping of all the surfaces, fitting/mounting the kit (including the test fit), and wiring up the fog lights. Not too bad for what I got, I don't think.

weird.. cause a very repubtable body shot here in dallas quoted me 3,500 for a whole car repaint in MB black, also he said he would put on a greddy bodykit for me if I had it with me when i went into his shop. He paints show cars for the dallas car shows. Im just trying to see if i can find a better deal.

$6-8k for a professional job is the going rate as far as we've seen. If you can get it for $3500, then more power to you. Just make sure you trust the shop and that they'll stand behind their work.

Hey 'BRO', if you are going to re-paint a Z with a less than factory quality paint job. Go for it. Im sure the orange peel, fish eye, and paint runs will look great over the poorly prepped CF parts. And Im sure you are talking about 'Black', not Obsidian, because its not 'Mercedes Benz Black' untill it is, in fact, ON a Mercedes. Otherwise its simply a BASF or DuPont color.

If you want your Z to look as good as it did from the factory, I would not suggest having a $2,000.00 paint job 'slapped' on the bodywork.

I'm just trying to help man. If you think you're going to get a truly quality paint job for less, that's great. However, keep in mind that a quality paint job involves painting the engine bay (which really involves removing the engine), the under carriage, removing window seals, etc. You're probably not going to get that with a less expensive paint job, but I'm just guessing.

As for your comments, 4K won't touch a tt kit, let alone get it installed. I see an 'underpricing trend' on your part here...Anyone else?

I was wondering the same thing....I re-read the OP, and he never stated MB factory paint (which isn't made by MB, so whoopdy-freakin-doo). Where could you have read about that? Oh well, I'm done with this guy....waste of time trying to help.
