Just test drove a 2003 Base
I test drove a 2003 base model. I never drove one before but man, that's one amazing machine. It has 25K miles on it. There was very slight cupping on the front tires and when I say slight I mean it took me a minute to actually notice it. I felt some vibration in the shifter while cruising. Not sure if this is normal. I didnt mind it. The clutch was smooth. I didn't notice any tire roar when driving at slow speeds. All the electronics components work fine. It's an everyday ride. The owner is the second one for the car/ Carfax report is clean. The car has about 10 months or 11K miles left on the warranty. Does anyone know if the warranty is still transferrable? He said he would take $20K for it. What do you guys think?
Unless there is something I am obviously missing I will join your ranks shortly. Thanks guys.

20k isnt a bad price for a 03 z base. but from my past experience, look around for something better like an 05 base which i know its almost around at that same price. (20-25k) plus with the warranty. if you cant find anything else and want that z, play with the dealer, remember get them in your game not theirs. im pretty sure you can negotiate something lower then that 20k
i would agree with brick, you can do allot better... like others say, try for 05 base,
ya dont know what kind of miles those were.. plus you get all the "improvements" and full warranty. i would if i could get out of my 03

I agree with the others, That is way too much.
The Kelly Blue book for that car shows $18K and unless you are good at negotiating, folks rarely get kbb prices.
I would offer him $17K IF this car is inspected.
Remind him that you will have to drop $900 for new tires + alignment because it WILL need alignment.
Just my .02 - it's not my money

I bought my 03 Performance w/ 16K miles on it from a dealership almost a year ago for about $26K including my 2250 negative equity from my lease so I know you can do better than that for a base with almost twice as many miles. Good luck man! Later,

I got my '05 Base for $25,900, 2 months ago, with 200 miles on it. I would think you could drive a better deal than that. In the process of looking for that I had a dealer try to practically GIVE me an '04 with 9k for $21k. Good luck!
The warranties are transferrable up to the third owner right? I call a Nissan dealer but I was on hold for 20 minutes and I had to hang up becuase I'm at work. The warranty should cover a new alignment and tires right?
The warranty for an alignment adjustment is for the first 12,000 miles or 12 months. The tire replacement that Nissan devised was only good for the original owner. So, you are paying for tires and the alignment.
I am closing on a 03 enthusiast with a few extras tomorrow for 18500 that has 18K on it. The original owner purchased the extended warranty out to 100,000 miles and I found that it is full transferable with the service records and a transfer document that the original dealer can provide. Most states charge a modest $50 fee for this service. Also if the car is still under factory warranty you should be able to work with the dealer to purchase an extended package if you are worried about coverage you may have to get the car inspected at your cost but that is a small price to pay. Anyway I would encourage you to seek a lower price and investigate your warranty options.
I dont know the market out where you guys live but I bought my 03 base for 22500 with 15000 miles on it, also had crome factory wheels, the cheapest one I could find, I did my research, autotrader it was the cheapest and ebay, the only ones I could find around 17000 and 19000 had something wronge with the title, also had terrible tire feathering, luckily had the tires replaced and allignment under warranty, hmmm.....

$20K for a 2003 Base Model (First Year Z at that?)...Nope Nope!! Bad Deal!!
Ante up the extra $5K, as many dealers will sell the Base '05 Model @ $25K....Plus, a LOT of people seem to complain about tire feathering in 2003 Z's regardless of what trim level it is. You'll be spending a ton of money (Think $125 - $150 per tire) when you gotta replace all four of those old '03 Z Tires.
BTW...I got my '05 Z for $25K with 10 "test drive" miles on it. So...I know you can do better than the '03 Model you're looking at!
Good Luck!
