Default 3322lb. Weight

Alright guys, I have to agree with other who have posted, that if this is true, this is the most dissappointing number. I'm happy with the other number for the price. Plus, it's stock. A few mods, and we'll be over 300, runnin' 5.2's and sub 14 1/4 miles.
But, I CAN'T believe that the car weight over 3300 pounds. That must include the driver, I mean, the 3.5 altima (stick) only weighs 3178! How could the Z with aluminum suspension arms, 2 doors, only 2 seats etc. weigh 150 pounds more?? What do you guys think?

Sorry, I wanted to try posting a pic, just to see if it works.

If that cover was true I am sure that was a weight as tested including driver, all fluids, and some test equipment.

Default Misprint or typo?

Ever consider that C&D might just have a misprint? Would not be the first time (nor the last).

Well it looks like C&D and RxO have figures in the same neighborhood, which is much heavier than JManZ's data from Nissan. I guess only time will tell. Personally, I can't see the car weighing 3300+ pounds.

Wait until more sources do tests.... all will be better.

Trust in this.
JmanZ, do you have any news from any of your sources about the weight discrepancy? Just checking.

For acceleration the power to weight ratio is important (glad its better than others) but for handling it doesn't matter. The Audi S4 was quicker and more powerful than the previous bodystyle A4 yet the 1.8T A4 felt much better in the twisties since it wasn't as heavy. In a straight line I am sure the 350Z will be quick (just like the Z32) but I am concerned it will feel too sluggish through the corners (.88g not too impressive). Dropping the car and getting a tighter suspension might not help too much if the car is 3300+ lbs.

Default gas

assuming 20 gallon tank and 6lbs per gallon of gas,
thats 120lbs for a full tank.

3188 + 120 = 3308

still, if true, that doesn't explain why a Z (2 seater) weighs same as a stick altima (someone posted as 3178, I didn't verify)...

From what I read in the Nissan sales brochure that I peeked through while the salesman was busy with my deposit, the weight was 3196lbs. Close enough to what J said for me!

I believe, according to C/D, that the test weight of the car would include, the fluids, driver and 30lbs of test equipment. Also, I'm hoping that the driver was a real heavyweight at about 300lbs who needs an extra seat on the airlines therefore meaning that the 350Z would actually weigh under 3000lbs!

Unfortunately that misses Nissan's stated goal of 11 lbs/hp (autoweek 11/26/01)
