Default 2006 base or enthusiast?

I am almost 100% positive im going to get a 350z (either this or an evo8) but here is my predicament: after reading and reading through posts I don't know whether to wait till oct., nov for a 2006 which might be 300hp on all models... as rumored, or get one now but I dont know about whether to get a base or enthusiast? How hard would it be to get either into the 13's? and if both are the same would the LSD that comes with the enthusiast be the choosing point?... and yes I am a n00b to 350's so I wanted to know what the LSD really does??? thanks in advance

Track! Get a Track Model!!!! LSD = Limited Slip Differential. Comes in pretty handy when you need to go Opposite Lock under Full Throttle. It'll keep you from doin' a 360!

14's ain't hard, shaving a second off your 1/4 mi time will take a bit of modding. Intake, exhaust, maybe new cams and possibly a power adder such as a turbo or supecharger.

Remember, this ain't no dragstrip car, dude. It's a sports car that likes straight stretches followed by twisty bits designed to give that suspension a workout. It's light, nimble and handles well. It DOES NOT have a significant low rpm torque value and torque is what moves you off the line.

You wanna get into the 13's? Go buy a '74 Nova, transplant a bored and stroked small block into it, strip the interior, install some headers, put on some subframe connectors and traction bars, get a set of drag radials, and hit the strip.

Want 12's? Add nitrous to that Nova.

why get a track if you are going to mod the hell out of it? I say get the enthusiast. OR... most people that get the base want to redo the whole car completely,

i got the base because I KNEW I was going to upgrade everything, like the LSD< I am going to get the Quaife, etc... only thing is I don't have cruise control, but I don't ever use it so....

best band for the buck is enthusiast. just depends on what you want the end result of the Z to be.

You might want to add in there - LEARN TO DRIVE is the biggest mod!

Get more for the buck on the a enthusiast, its worth the extra money. If they still have a track available than go for that!

What is the difference between the Enthusiast and the Performance? Looks like VDC and 18", is that worth the extra $2k? And what exactly is VDC? Also do all models have power seats besides the base?

enthuisast, the way i see it, traction control could save my life, so why not pay for it, it is my life wich happens to be valueable.

I consider the TCS to be a hazard...

If you're in a little bit of gravel and are pulling out and trying to accelerate, the TCS will kick in and bog the car way down. So much so that I thought I was going to get rear ended if the thing wouldnt have recovered. I turn it off all the time now.

I guess it could help you if you floor it in the rain everywhere you go, but I find it to be a hinderance.

hence you can turn the TCS off and on with a simple push of the button.

I took all the Trim levels into consideration, and in the end you can't lose LOL.

But because I come from a backround of modding, I knew the Base was for me. Since I was going to be adding a clutch type LSD anyway, power mods, and what not.

So save your money, get the base and go from there... Besides IMO the only reason to get the Enthu. version is for the HID's... But I can live without those

Yep, but I was just trying to point out that holding out for TCS may not really be that great of a thing.

I'd go for the Enthu more for the lights, cruise, and lsd.

For 2006 as long as you get the stick shift model you will be getting the 300HP /7000 RPM engine.

Now the only differences I can see between the Base and the rest of the models is that the Base doesn't have "Steering wheel switch lighting" or "Steering wheel audio controls"
