Question Clutch noise that just started

Anyone get a problem where in the morning when you first go through the gears and depress the clutch when getting the car into gear you hear a water drop type of noise from the back? The noise seems to go away after about 5 min but should I be worried about it in the future?

what makes you think it's clutch related if you hear the "water drop" sound form the back? could it be condensation?

But could you even hear water actually drop inside the noisy interior?

It's a more metallic water drop sound actually. When I posted about it I described it as someone clacking their nails on a hard surface.

This sound seems to be normal for 350zs. I've heard many make it. Also, it will get worse as time progresses. By worse I mean it won't go away after the car warms up.

It almost sounds like a bunch of bearings falling in to place or something.

Other posts on this say it's not harmful but man it sure sounds nasty. And people notice too, from the outside, kind of embarassing. :\

do all Zs make this? I just noticed that same metallic twang last night after just 750 miles. Are you sure it's normal? Sure doesn't sound that way

yeah, I got it at about 650-700 miles as well. I'm sure more people have had this problem that just don't really care or had theirs go away. I hope the latter is true lol

It hasn't gone away. I'm at 20,000 miles. Strongly considering the 70,000 mile "post" extended warranty at this point.

It's not a clicking sound, the twang can be felt through the entire car, and can be heard from inside & outside of the car. You especially feel it through the feedback from the clutch at your feet, and from the bottom of your seat lol.

Describe this sound again? I don't get what you guys are saying. My clutch makes a sort of bearing type sound when the flywheel starts spinning. You can hear it spinning really loud.

It's not a spinning sound, basically it sounds like if you were to take a tin can of food, and flick the bottom or top of it it with your finger, that clang is what it would sound like and it reverberates througout the car and is loud enough to go over the car stereo.

Then that's not what mine is. Mine is just the loud clutch spinning.

I get the bearing's spinning sound too, that is normal, this is a clicking, plinking sound when you actually engage the clutch and start to drive away.

I've heard brand new Zs make this sound at the dealership even.

Here's a topic that had a solution from a poster named Saint which is at the end of the first page.

http://350zmotoring.com/forums/showt...licking+clutch

Here's another topic on this problem
http://www.350zmotoring.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=30107

Apparently his went away after the dealer lubricated the Clutch pivot ball, not sure if this is the fix, maybe have them give it a try when you bring it in and let us know?
