Default exhaust rattle?

Not sure if anyones experienced this...

its an 04 with about 7,000 miles.

When in 1st gear, driving normal... as soon as the car starts to move (and the clutch begins to be about 50% depressed) I hear a form of metal rattling.

First thought is exhaust rattle... im pretty sure its coming from the rear of the car.

I tried twice and was able to duplicate the problem.
Its best heard if you launch the car very slowly....
when launching the car from 1st gear normally, its barely noticeable as the RPM's begin to rise (quickly).
Its almost like a bogging rattle.

Mine makes the noise from the right side of the car rear when I am going slow on a bumpy road. I don’t think the noise is coming from the muffler. I thought at first that something was lose where the spare tire is. I searched, but I could not find anything. Maybe it is the shocks?
I am ignoring the nosie, though it's really bothering me. I figured if it is an issue, the noise will become louder and than I will take it to the dealership. I don’t think the dealership can add value on these kind of issues. I think they will be learning on my expense

I started hearing the same noise right after I installed my exhaust, but when I inspected it, everything seemed extremely secure and in place. I wish some one knew what it was.

I think this is what I'm experiencing too. I hear what sounds like an exhaust rattle when I shift early say 1800-2000 rpms.

I had the same problem...some kind of metal pinging or rattling. I thought it was the rear of the car, the left side, then the middle console. Then I unscrewed the shift ****(you all have stick shifts right?) and found a metal washer thing. Took that out and the sound went away =) . Hope that helped and let me know if it worked

Mine just started this at 9500 miles. Will tighten all the stuff down. Sounds like it would make sense. I hadn't looked there.

thanks.

It's probably your muffler bearing.... Sorry, saw that on a joke video once.

Unscrew the shift ****, check for a metal washer and take it out and see if that works

I had the same rattle and it was driving me nuts. I just happened to pull out the spare, jack and all the tools in the rear well and it went away? I'm thinking that something wasn't tightened or had worked it's way loose.

I'm going to put all that stuff back in and make sure it's tight. We'll see if the rattle comes back.

After Installing my new exhaust the rattle went away. I'm not sure if it fixed the problem or I just can't hear it now due to the loud exhaust.

ok, this noise is getting to me...
did some investigating today...
it CAN be heard before the car is taken for a drive,
I left it at idle and went real close to the back left/right tires... I can hear it very slightly over the engine. I guess this noise gets louder when I do long drives.

For those of you that took the washer out of the shift ****... was the rattle able to be heard outside the car as well?
Also, how the heck do you unscrew this thing? I tried putting a little muscle into it, but didnt wana break it off...
