SES light = Throttle Sensor
I had an SES light pop about a week ago when I was just starting up my car to leave Starbucks after a 2 hour trip. So I crank the Z off and immediatly pops my first SES light...fun times ...I freak. It was a Friday night and not much else I could do, so I limped it home. Everything felt fine....I drove it at 45 to make sure it was safe and listened for anything odd on the way home with the windows down.
The light went off on Monday morning on my way back to Baton Rouge from Houma. (2 hour trip) I had read in the manual that if you get a SES light that stays light that your problem is related to the emissions control system and if it goes off you should be fine...so I figured yay, all is well.
I assumed a bit too much. I was driving in Baton Rouge and went to take a left at about 10mph back in 2nd gear. Halfway though the turn the car totally lost power and stumbled at what felt like 6th gear at 10mph. I barely got the car out of the way of oncoming traffic. A new SES light with my SLIP light and my TCS OFF light all on solid. The manual has nothing on this that I found. I called Royal Nissan and they said they could not get to it until the morning and to bring it in tomorrow.
Bring it in and get the call that "a throttle sensor has failed, and we need to order parts which will be about 3 days....we have a rental for you (great!!!! Chrystler Seabring convertible!!! w00t) Enough ragging my rental ride for now...
3 days passes, and I have to call the dealership back to find out that this mysterious "throttle sensor" is aparently on backorder because I was told this sort of item usually does not go bad was the service manager's rational. Does this make sense, becuase to me this sounds like a load of BS...sounds more like the part fails often and is out of stock.
My car is now in the shop until the 8th of this month...yes...another freaking week. Has anyone else had this problem with a "throttle sensor"...which I suppose he means is the TPS....not sure if there are any other throttle sensors.

Yes I am dumb for replying to my own post, but nonetheless I'll update this. This problem is the throttle chamber, I saw a few more posts on this same item going bad in a few other people's cars on here. It is an 800 dollar part...and it seems to be an epidemic of sort. Another Z "just so happened" to bring one in that also was doing the same thing while my car was in the shop. The guy said the part may be delayed another week so he said I could have my car back, but just to be careful and not get into situations that could turn ugly if I were to loose power.
Haha, I would tell him to keep paying for your rental and let him hold onto it until it's repaired. If it's not safe to drive then I wouldn't drive it. Good luck getting everything fixed up though!
