It really sounds like you just put it in sixth gear. Reverse holding down and then sliding it to the far right bottom,... more so than even sixth. The only time this can be difficult is if you are already on an incline leaning backwards that you would have to use slightly more effort.

LOL yes I must have had it in 6th because it was not wayyyy over to the right but was as far as I could get it over, without pressing down on the shifter. It was as far over as 5th, just back, so it had to be sixth.

I thought about kind of pushing the car backwards and driving it and just not using reverse but was afraid the tranny was messed up and didn't want to get it stranded half a block away.

If I buy one, it will be fun letting my Dad drive the car, he will never get it figured out:-P

I find putting the shifter all the way over, then pushing down and over again to be the easiest way.

And I thought I was the only stupid one who couldn't figure out how to put my 6MT into reverse...even couldn't figure out why the engine wouldn't start when I turned the ignition. My salesman didn't show me anything about my car...but then again...he was 2500 miles away when I took delivery of it.

Don't feel bad guys. I was lucky enough to have the salesman actually give me all the basics to driving the 350z manual at the dealership. I was clueless but had nobody else with me who could drive my car home for me. I must have stalled out like 20 times on the way home... and I mean at every friggen light. Talk about embarrasing having this new bada** car.. everybody checking it out all over the place *had one of the first 03's* and then come to a light and not being able to go once it turned green... EVER... oh well, i put my first 03 through hell but she survived until i traded her in for an 04. Just thought i'd share that with ya.

I tried it again and yep down and over works great. Easy as long as ya know the secret.

I came pretty damn close to hitting redline shifting from first to second and not a single grind. It went into reverse without and grinding or thunking of any kind. I only did the high RPM shift once and since I was in an enclosed parking lot, I couldn't let her rip like I wanted to.

The only noise I found was a rattle with the left exhaust near where the canister joins the tips. It sounded like it had a raspy sound at higher RPMS, though a lot of that could have been attributed to the rattle. It was a stock sytem. I kind of got used to the bottom of the seats but now I'm finding that the side bolsters are more of an issue than the bottom bolsters. Not horrible but wider would be better for sure.
