I just bought a used 03 350Z performance w/45,000 miles on it.First question:what kind of tires came on it from the factory? It has Bridgestone Potenza's on it now.The front tires need replacing very soon. Will this apply to me and my car since I bought it used?

Potenza RE040's were stock. The policy should apply to you too.

Does it matter if they have previously replaced your tires?
Dave,

Didn't the original '03 TSB on tire replacements only guarantee you guys one new set of tires? That's probably what the dealer is holding you to.

Well I stopped by a local Nissan service department today and they heard about this today as well. I have an appointment for this Thursday to have the tires replaced and the alignment done. They say the only cost to me will be based on the tire wear. If you looked that that who PDF file you know what I mean. It depends on how much tread is left on the OUTER part of the tire.

Cant someone just go and burn the life out of their tires in a few minutes?

My question is... does this relate to excessive noise during slowing down (like 30mph - 0mph) or does it relate to all tire noise. My Z has this constant droning of tire noise at freeway speeds and it bugs the heck out of me. I want to get rid of the droning because it's so annoying.

So if you replaced your front tires already you can't get a free alignment?

"a new tire with a slightly modified tread pattern, more resistant to “heel-toe” wear together with correct alignment, virtually eliminated the incident"

I wonder if this excludes those of us with the new tires.

Does anyone have any details on how the reimbursement works? I want new tires but don't want the crappy stock tires again. Will Nissan reimburse you for the full amount you paid on the tires you bought or is it only a portion?

If you look at the chart it shows that the less tread the less money. I asked the service guy yesterday and he explained it. Basically they will measure tread depth at the outer most part of the tire, where the least wear should be. If you have a ton of tread there and none on the inner tread, it means you got less life out of the tires, and thus, more money back to you. If you have some slight uneven wear, basically less tread on the outer part and none on the inner, you got more life out of the tires, thus less money coming back. I know I know...it sounds absurd, but that's corporate America for you.

Either way, I'll get a free alignment which will hopefully fix the problem, and nearly free tires. I am going to swing by Discount Tire on my lunch and have them measure the tread depth and document it for me. Im gonna take it with me when I drop the car off for service and show them how much tread is left so they dont try and screw me and say there was only 2/32nd's left when I know there is more.

In regard to what tires they will be using to replace the stocks.....same freakin Potenzas....go figure.

After they fixed my original tire feathering problem, my new tires wore evenly. But I couldn't stand the stock tire noise, and bought some Michellin Pilot Sport A/S - now THATs a good tire, and my ride is so much nicer and quieter. I'm lowering the car this week, so oh well to free alignments.

It's MA POT PIE KITTY!

I would suspect they only reimburse non-OEM tires purchased before this notice was posted. Check that out first if you plan to purchase new tires and get reimbursement.

I just got off the phone with my dealer, they will be ordering me some new tires. I measured the tread on one of them last night and still have at least 4/32" so it looks like free tires for me!

How many miles do you have on your tires.
Your dealer promise to replace your tire just on the phone call?
I thought that they have to inspect them.

They will replace them either way. It's just a matter of how much YOU will pay as opposed to them.
