Default How does the Z respond to mods?

I was wondering, how does the Z respond to mods? For example, if you buy an Amuse exhaust, Mugen intake, and Mugen headers for the S2000 you'd be spending about $4000 and would only gain about 12-15whp.

So what about the Z? How does it respond to engine mods?

Thanks

I think compared to other NA cars its about average, its nothing like say an LS1. I think one person on this forum is decked out NA (stock headers i think) running low 13's on slicks. Some people have had issues with the ECU freaking out for some mods and that has held the Z back a little.

Some of the headers for the Z claim over 15hp, some of the intakes claim over 5hp and some of the exhausts claim 10hp but I doubt if you got all of those you would really see a 30 hp difference. I would be willing to bet intake + exhuast + hf cats would give 12-15hp and most likely only cost $2000 installed.

The Z will respond with a much more noticeable difference than if u were to upgrade the s2k, mainly because v6>I4

It's a pretty expensive car to mod, but I would say not that expensive. Of course any time you buy Amuse stuff it's expensive, . If you go with all Nismo stuff on the Z it's pretty expensive but it's good stuff. I have a Jim Wolf Technologies popcharger and a Motordyne Plenum on my Z and it's dynoed about a 15 WHP increase just with those two mods. They cost me about $300 total.

Yeah I love the S, but man it's way too expensive to mod. Best bang for the buck I've found is the 4.57 or 4.77 gears. Thanks guys.

If you want best bang for your buck as far as modding goes nothing beats a car that is running a stock turbo or supercharger. Mustangs and lightnings can get serious gains with a pulley... and cars like the VW GTI can get a major boost from a ECU flash.

Yes unfortunately the Z is a $$ hog to get any real gains from N/A boltons. Just bolting on decent I/H/E mods doesnt do much sometimes, because proper fuel tuning is needed. Its pretty well tuned from the factory, but you still cant beat a well built N/A tune motor, in terms of response and reliability.
