Default 350Z: Good resale value??

Hi guys, I have been hearing from people that the G35 coupe is one of the best vehicles to hold its value among competitors in its class. I want to ask if the 350Z is any good in holding its value. Particularly, do you guys think that the resale value between these two cars will be about the same after 2 years?? Thanks in advance.

G will hold value better than a Z. Is this your main concern buying a car? It's no GM that's for sure.

Honestly at one point I was considering getting a used Z, seems like you can find them for less than 20k, I've seen them go for 18k. Ebay and locally, they are going for going for around the lower 20s.

Yeah, I must agree that the performance and looks of the car should be the biggest concern when buying a car. However, I like the looks of both the Z and G and I am just going to be staying in the US for another 2 years, so I really hope that I would be getting a car with good resale. Thanks for the reply though. An off-topic question, I currently own a 2004 FX45 and was looking to trade that in. I was looking at the trade in value of the car late May and looked at it again yesterday, and found that the resale value dropped nearly $3000!!!! Is this normal? I know that its getting closer and closer to the 2006 model, but does the two months make that big of a difference?? Last question, when is the 2006 Z going to come out, because I tried messaging Nissan and they said that it will be release in the end of August, however they don't have any finalized specifications and price for the car as of yesterday.

Z has worst resale value imo. for comparison, my 2000 honda accord was purchased for $22k, I sold it after 3 yrs 58k miles for $16k.

My 2003 Z was purchased for $34k, now it has 47k miles, and I couldn't even get $20k for it..

I agree... buy used Z or new G... all the used G's are always just a few grand lower than a new car so you may as well get new... I bought my 04 in Dec 04 it was used with 7k miles on the clock and I got it for like 4 or 5k under invoice of what one with 0k miles would have cost me (and I bet I could have nego'ed a little more). No way you will find a deal like that on a G35c.

A good way to get a feel for how much a car will go down in value is to go to a lease quote site and see what they predict for the residual value in 3 years. I don't think the Z is that bad as you say. Sure its not as good as some Honda's or Toyotas but you are comparing spending 22k (most likely not msrp) then selling private part vs buying a first model year car most likely at full msrp to get it while its new then trading it into a dealer. If you spent 34k invoice on your 03 z it would most likely be an optioned up track editon or something which you could easily sell to a private party for 24k-ish so the percentage of deprication is about the same.

You have to factor in the "no hard feelings" for paying closer to MSRP to get the car durring the first year and the fact that people are scared of first model year of ANY car... this is not unique to the Z

If you are asking this before you have bought one, then please don't buy either. If resale value is what is most important in your car buying decision go buy a Honda Civic or Accord they have great resale values. Buy the 350Z to enjoy getting from point A to B. Not to know that you can sell it for alot once you get to point B.

The resale value is alright, not the greatest ever but it's not bad. Plus, it's an awesome car! Worth it in my opinion. And if you buy it used you won't be in that bad of shape.

I think maybe in a few years, the resale value may hold a bit.....

But now, most cars resale value drop like crazy in the first 2-3 years
