Default Just checked out a Z... & Questions!

Test drove a Z today and I dig it! More so than than G35 Coupe I test drove. Both were 6 speed, the Z just seems sportier and more fun to drive, though I love the G35c's interior a LOT better....

I had a couple of questions, for cars with NAV/satellite radio, I HATE the satellite radio antenna on top of the car. Is there a way to remove it or relocate it somewhere else? I really hate how it screws up the beautiful lines of the Z (yes, I'm sorta **** like that). Is it possible to DIY? I'm looking for a 350Z non-Track with leather, and it seems all the dealers around here have Satellite radio as a requirement to get the leather. I did a search and didn't find any results regarding that.

Also, for bolt-on mods, without a SC or Turbo, what kind of dyno numbers can one expect in terms of maximum hp/torque? Let's say with all bolt-ons (well, street legal ). Thanks in advance!

Um.. donno what to tell you about the satellite thing? Get use to it? lol

As for the bolt on mods... some people say you can only get around 270rwhp with all the bolt ons.. I think you can get to 300rwhp. But just all depends. I would personally just screw it being street legal and go with the SC or Turbo, get an exhaust and youre set. You would spend about the same doing every bolt on, probably more doing every bolt on. If carb cert is that much of a problem, i think up to Stage 2 on the Stillen SC is carb legal.

Many people here have had it installed aftermarket and put the satellite antenna in the trunk on one side of the bar or the other. Supposedly no degradationg in signal.

Hrmm, yeah, I was just wondering if anyone has removed the satellite thingy and remounted it as dcmidnight says, to the trunk.... The Z is otherwise beauuuuutiful without the antenna up top (as are most cars!).

I'm going to write a Top 10 Z FAQ one day. Look, people have problems with EVERY car they buy, EVERY ONE. Go onto any car board and you will find hundreds of problems, OK? Second thing to consider, people post 99% of the time when they have something to ***** about or a problem, but the 4,999 people out of 5,000 that day that had nothing wrong, dont post. I didnt come home this morning and post "Man ont he way home from Dunkin Donuts, I hit that on ramp, punched it, and the Z just lept threw the morning like Dave Roberts in Game 4 against the Yankees last year."

After my whole three weeks with the car, I would put the Z up against any car in a cost/benefit analysis.

+1...love the Z, even with it's quirks and "problems"

dc is correct about all cars having issues. I just spent the day with my g/f looking for a roadster. We drove the SC430, S2000, Z4 3.0, CLK280 and of course a ZR. I did a quick check on the respective forums and problems abound for each model.

Personally...the Z roaster was a near perfect blend of styling, price point and enthusiast driving manners. Buy the car you love to drive...and the problems won't matter as much.

I am trying to talk the g/f into the ZR, but she likes the Z4. She didn't like the S2000, which I really liked best of the group.

If you don't mind my asking, did they come off of the sticker $$$$ on the ZR?

Most of the dealers order packages they believe will sell. If you can find, and I'm sure you can, a Z33 with leather and no satellite radio, you can add one and mount the antenna anywhere you want.

Go to Nissan.com and configure the model you want, then search for a matching car right there from the website. That will help narrow your search.
