Default How's the stock stereo...

...I'm gonna be buying a 2003 and I'm interested in how good or bad the stock systems are in both the touring and the track? I know the track is not as good.

Only the Touring has Bose.

I had an 03 with a stock stereo which equates to CRAP!

I have an 05 Touring with Bose, and its way better but not near as good as other vehicles with Bose in them!

Please don't base your purchase on the stereo, you will be disappointed!

I have to agree, the Bose is better than stock, but you're still going to want to replace it after awhile.

Zand02max is right.
I partially based my purchase based on the Bose system. I also wanted the B Orange seats so got the Touring.
The first thing I did was gut the sound system. It is such crap. even my wife remarked on how bad is sounded. She cares less about cars or music systems for that matter.
So I end up spending 3k more for the install (amazing change)
I should have purchased a less expensive trim and put the savings into the stereo and upgraded seats.
PS: The bose factory sub magnet weighs less than the magnets on my behind the seats new speakers.
bose is sooooooo overrated

If you're an audiophile you are going to want to change it either way. So you may as well not get the bose. I personally don't really mind the stock non-bose too much; but I dont really turn my music up because I still need to hear my radar detector.

The bose isn't fantastic, but it's noticeably better than the stock system. It's probably not as good as the bose systems in more expensive cars, but it's certainly not as bad as people make it out to be. I have an 03 and after the amplifier recall I'd rate it a 7/10 (for a factory system). The in-dash 6cd changer is nice as well.

People who aren't much into music or stereos have remarked at how bad the non-Bose system sounds. I had a subwoofer which made it sound better, but a recent replacement of the unit resulted in them not hooking up the subwoofer and I heard for the first time what it sounds like. Needless to say, it didn't sound good before, and I was shocked at how poorly it sounds now.

I'd like to rip the whole thing out, but I have such a short dirve to work that I doubt I'll drop thousands on a new system.

I have an 03 touring, and the Bose is nothing special. In fact, I already need one of the tweeters replaced (tomorrow).

I have a track model and simply upgraded the OEM system. MB Quart separates up front and a US Acoustics 2-channel amp with 100 clean watts a side. Made the decision to keep the OEM headunit and rear speakers (biased way to the front) and am quite happy with the results. For less than $400 (includng install), this slight upgrade continues to amaze me!

I agree with the others- don't base your decision on the stereo system. There's LOTS more to consider when choosing how to spec your Z!

It's alright unless you really like great sound. Then you should just get it replaced any ways.
