Apparently there are still '05s sitting in ports in California that still need to go. So yeah, get an '05 so it will be that much sooner that I can get an '06.
I wish there were that many left but there are not. All I want is a silverstone enthusiast. They do not exist. I have had three dealers look for one to no avail. The last dealer I spoke to told me it could be December before you could get an 06.

If you negotiate a pre-order, you can make out with a good deal. I'll be paying under invoice and I don't have any friends or ties to Nissan or a dealership. I'm waiting for the final pricing info to be released, but I'm sure it's just 300 to 500 up from what it was last year. Look at the pricing info Nissan released for all of the other 2006 cars, they only went up about that much.

LamaZ,
Can I ask how much under invoice, and where, and is it a Roadster?

Well, since pricing isn't available yet. I had various dealers compete for the price based on this year's info keeping in mind that they are expected to raise the cost about 1% which is roughly $300 to $500.

Now, I started negociating using the tips from:
http://www.carbuyingtips.com

and finally got one dealer to agree to make $750.00 clean profit.

So if you do the math its:
Invoice - Factor Holdback + $750.00 = my Sale Price.

Factory Holdback is about %3 of MSRP for 2005. If you use this years data, the sale price would be about $300.00 under invoice. So I am expecting roughly the same results.

The only reason why the dealer is willing to make me this deal, is because he isn't taking any risk. The car arrives and it is already sold. So he doesn't have to keep it on his lot and keep incurring costs.

Interesting. I've read those same tips before, just never tried it. I guess I'll try it too.

Am I the only one that suspects that invoice prices are bunk? The 2-3% dealer holdbacks CAN'T be the only thing dealers are making when they sell at invoice. I think invoice prices were invented to create a price floor below which customers wouldn't venture. In no other industry do people disclose what they paid wholesale; why do auto dealers? I think it's to dupe customers. I would NEVER sell anything that expensive at a 2-5% profit.

Don't forget that most dealers get money back from the bank if they sell their cars fast enough...called "Floor Plan Assistance".

The dealer that gave me my deal said the only reason that he is giving me the deal that we agreed to is because he gets to keep his 15 days worth of "Floor Plan Assistance" with my purchase. So he is making $750.00 + whatever Floor Plan Assistance for just about 1 or 2 hours worth of work.

Somebody had asked me if my purchase was a Roadster....yes it is! Check out my signature for details.

Have your dealer call Atlanta area dealers, Nissan web site shows
3 auto SS Enthusiasts and 1 6sp SS enthusiast...

The 6spd one is at Union City Nissan (Jonesboro GA) 770-964-4900

Good Luck!

Maybe not imposible. According to the NissanUSA inventory search, Brown's Nissan in Arlington has an '05 Track in Chrome Silver. Sticker is $36,140.

If you are a patient man or like the changes in the 06, wait. VPP price should not be much higher; resale be higher; you get the distinction of being the first on your block with the new lights and wheels(?) maybe the new color.

Just saw pictures of the new LED taillights. I think I'll wait 'til the '06.

LamaZ, why are you waiting 'til December? Won't something very similar to what you want come in in the next month or two?

That is actually working, I am not a big fan of the tail lights and I don't like that bumper tongue thing. It is almost 10 pm, what time to the dealerships close, I need my 2005 right now.

Anybody have any guess' as to whether or not the dealers will be selling the '06's in California above MSRP?

It's because mine is a pre-order...and supposedly they are building my car in Sept and it takes 90 days to make and ship the car. Then again somebody here posted a rumor that Nissan doesn't actually "make the car" on a pre-order, but just finds it somewhere in the country and sends it to the dealer.

Either way, I have no choice. Unless the EXACT car that I want is found at some other dealer close enough and willing to give me the same or better price on my new Z. I seriously doubt that I'll get a better deal. I have access to VPP and this deal is even cheaper.

PS: We have gone WAY off of topic for this thread, maybe we should continue this in one of the thousands of threads about "What's your best price"

Chad, yes and no. I think the dealer will take the most money you're willing to part with. That said, I think you can still get close to invoice (Nissan of San Bernardino is offering $300 over now at year-end, but they only have 5 left).

LamaZ, you're right about being off-topic, but no one's complaining, and this thread is available, so... I'm willing to pay $500 more (maybe even $1000) to save 3 months of waiting. But then those estimates are usually conservative, so you're probably looking at November. Anyway, maybe THAT dealer will have the same one and give it to you for a couple hundred more?

Hey I'm getting an used Z for $19k with 20k miles, enthusiast trim and 6 speed. The owner had tire feathering problem too but the dealer fixed it and put on new tires haven't got the problem recurring after 5k miles. Should I jump on it?
