Default Arrival of 06's at the Dealer?

So after seeing the pictures last night, I'm itching to get my hands on a new Z - does anyone know when they will be hitting the dealerships? Our local dealer here said "We don't know, probably later this year." Geniuses, I tell you

i dont get it... whats up with all the hype for 06's? they didnt change anything major... new lights...new grill, some minor modifications to the interior...WOW...big deal! if you want a Z, then go get a Z. I, personally, dont see any reason to wait for 06 model to get one, its still the same exact car as any other Z. It's not like they are 2 different cars, as, for example, 300ZX and 350Z.

Me particularly, I don't see a reason to spend money on a car that's a year old when I can get VPP pricing on a revised model that's just a few months away.

That, plus the fact that I can't find an 05 within 300 miles of here that is optioned the way I want it. So I'm guessing you don't know then

Some people actually like the changes and are willing to wait for the newer model.

Some people will sell their car eventually and by buying an '06, their car will technically be one year "newer" and possibly have better resale value.

Who cares why he wants an '06?

well, whatever floats your boat...
I guess Im not as rich as everybody else on this board, lol, but Id wait till 06 comes out, and get an 05 just because im pretty sure it will be way cheaper then 06, but its just me..and its my opinion, no offense to anybody.

if you have lots of extra cash laying around, then sure... wait for 06. I am sure you will be just as happy with 06 then I am with my 03

I'm thinking about trading/selling my 03 for the 06, not because the subtle changes, but for a fresh new Z..since my 03 has all the problems you can think of... 06 should have them all fixed.. I hope..

Also a trade-up from my Performance model to Track model

Just talked to someone in internet sales at a dealer here in SoCal... 2 months, give or take. I figure with minimal changes, I'd rather get an '05 at invoice NOW rather than get an '06 at $1-2K over. But if I could get an '06 at the SAME price, I'd totally do that!

My questions would be :

How does the weight of the 06 compare to the 05 for all three versions?

Is the Horsepower the same?

Wheel package comparison 05 vs: 06

Front end the same? If not how was it changed?

Is the paint process the same.

Is the engine powertrain the same as the 05?

I like the NISMO version the best!

Do the changes improve the performance and make it worth the wait?

No worries Not lots of extra cash, but considering most 2003's are going for $23-25k at least around here and with VPP I can get a new Enthusiast for less than $27k, it's just a wiser investment in my eyes. Definitely nothing against the 03-05's - that's the car that made me fall in love with the Z in the first place!

If I could find a touring or track Z for less without any problems, I'm sure I'd consider it just as much!

Personally, I'm not "holding out" for an 06. Its just impossible to find an 05 Track Z in VA. In fact, I'd rather have an 05, I like the 05 track rims a lot more than the 35th Annys.

If I didnt own a Z at this point, I would definitely hold out for an 06 (unless I was buying used).

I am currently looking for an enthusiast. There are none available. The current supply of Z's on the market is horrible. I have a saleman looking for what I want. I hope to hear back from him today. If he can't find it, I will order an 06 and wait.

Agreed. I bought my 2004 in early September of 2003. Most car manufactures have the next model year available for sale in the fall. Can't wait to see one up close.... beefier motor and better interior, what's not to like.

A dealer told me (I know, they don't know squat) that the '06s will come out when most of the '05s are gone. Nissan does not want a ton of '05s sitting on the lots after the '06s get come. Apparently there are still '05s sitting in ports in California that still need to go. So yeah, get an '05 so it will be that much sooner that I can get an '06.

Agreed....

(In a hypnotyzing voice) You are getting very sleeeeepy. You want a 2005 Z because you find the 300HP rev up motor useless. You really want that 2005 Z, the new headlights are ugly and the tail lights are even worse....buy the 2005 now.

Actually, I'm looking for a roadster, and I'm finding most SoCal dealers have just 3-5 roadsters in stock, so there are no rebates, no deals, etc. They ARE willing to offer $300 above invoice, so it's possible to get invoice (though they'll tell you they won't). I don't know if they're going to be as flexible when the new '06s roll out, though. Probably $1-1.5K over invoice... I guess I'll see when they come out.

These Zs are holding their value like stink, man. I can get a new Z Touring Roadster for $37K, and there's an Autotrader seller wanting me to take over payments on a 5-month old identical roadster w/ 6K miles for its current principal, $38K. I'm not gonna take it, but come on. I see 2-3 y/o Z coupes for $23-$25K ($25-30K new, right?). This is better than Mercedes depreciation!!! Buying used makes ZERO sense right now.

BTW, regarding new year models appearing in September... Lots of dealers have their new models in July/August. I just went to House of Imports (Mercedes) and they have most of their '06s in already.
