350z Diet
Allright, I would like to hear from all you ladies and gents on ideas to trim the fat of the Z.
From the mild-removal of the spare tire to the wild-removal of what's behind the bumpers.
Let's have at it.

I would keep the spare since it is at the rear of the car and will help with better weight distribution. There is alot of plastic in the hatch area of the car that you will never see unless you turn your head around to put it in reverse. The AC system weighs alot. You can probably remove inner fenders. The stereo will weigh alot especially with external amps which I think most Nissan's have. The power steering pump weighs a good bit and you'll get better steering feel from manual steering. Plastic in the engine bay like the engine cover can go. If you convert to an electric fan you can throw away the heavy mechanical fan, free up parasitic HP, and throw away the fan shroud. Triple bonus. Replacing air box with open element filter will save some weight and will flow freer but may pull hotter air from the engine bay. I would keep the bumper reinforcements for obvious reasons. Pull the carpet and the front passenger seat and mounting brackets. Lighter wheels. No more milkshakes for you.
Maybe you guys should weigh the car before you decide its overweight. It's well documented that the S2000 is about 100lb lighter (with fluids) than the published numbers. I just don't see how the Z can weigh 3300+lb with all the awesome weight reduction measures Nissan put into this car. Man, a CF driveshaft is about as cool as it gets.
