Default oil pressure

i dont think this is a problem but my dad keeps insisting that it is not normal. whenever the engine is idle, the oil pressure drops between zero and the first mark on the gauge, and it goes up as the revs increase. i know that this is probably normal, but my dad kept telling me that it should always stay above 60, so now i am curious and wanted to know if this is normal.

I read somewhere once that 15-19 lbs is all that is needed at idle. I'm not sure if this applies to our engines though.

I just looked it up in the manual. It should be 14+ at idle.

when the engine is cold and idling my psi is at like 80ish.

When it is fully warmed up and has been near redline a few times it is at about 60.

i dunno but, i think that if it drops that low especially when the engine is cold it is bad thing

are we talking about acording to the dash gauge pod?

Mine idle's at 30 *the first mark*. Step on the gas and it pops up over 60 *second mark* or higher depending on how much I rev. Seems fine to me.

It doesn't matter if there are 4 4.5 or 5 quarts in the system as long as the pick up can suck oil the pressure will be the same.
