Z on Ethanol??
Will/Could the Z run on Ethanol?
The Titan already can, would it be as simple as a ECU upgrade?
It is supposidly 105 octane?
Cheaper, Cleaner, Renewable, and dosent require the use of the army, just butt loads of farmers.

Any car that can take normal unleaded gas can run on ethanol. It will take a tank or two for the computer to adjust but it won't harm it.
You will get less HP though. And will have to go through another tank or two of the normal stuff when you switch back.
I lived in N.Dakota for 2 yrs and most stations their use ethanol. The cars run fine.

If you'll recall back to high school chemistry, when you compress a gas, it becomes more volatile and combusts at lower temperatures. This is important because the more your compress the A/F mixture in the firing chamber, the easier it is for the radiant heat from the engine block to detonate the mixture. This is problematic because it drives the piston down before it (and the crankshaft) are ready. This is knock.
Premium gas is of a higher octane than regular gas. Contrary to popular belief, higher octane does not always result in better performance (from a horsepower standpoint). Octane retards ignition so higher octane fuels require more heat to detonate, thereby lowering the chances of predetonation. That's why people who are running nitrous oxide or forced induction run 93+ octane fuel.
Too high of an octane without the need will cause the air/fuel mixture to not burn completely/properly resulting in less power produced.

ON this document by the DOE Page 9 the chart states that pure methanol, and ethanol gives a 5% boost in power compared to reg gas. and e-85 is 3-5% boost in power.
