xNeo, from what I've heard from friends who have owned them, they either like them (and are pretty loyal) or it's the worst car they've ever owned. A mechanic down the street from me curses his Mustang, but I've know other people who've like them (theses are a few years old, not the latest model). Personally, they've just never done anythign for me, though I do like the late 60's types. I feel the same way about Camaros though, so it's not really a "Ford thing" per se.

They compare it to the enthusiast probably based on price; which makes it a good comparision.

cars are more to it than just price
the best car in the sub 30k segment is definately Z
the best car in the 30-35k segment is the s2000 =)

you can compare the mustang to the z coupe/roadster of your choice.

i chose touring, noticed a few discrepencies in the website:

said cost otd was 34280, but delivery and vehicle cost were only 32100 and 580 for a total of 32680. wheres the 1800 bucks coming from?

secondly, it says the touring has 17 in rims standard, i think not!

third it mentions a trunk safety release thing, the z has one for the hatch(tho it be just as easy to get into the front seat and let yourself out the door)

lastly? it says the mt is included, cant tourings come in at also?

looked like ford likes to put extra topics in there to make their car look better. and they double mention the same item. like list the engine, then make a cat for v8 engines. or break the seating arrangements into 20 diff categories(front ,rear, foladable bucket, front leather, rearleather, cloth, and on and on), even tho it can be done in two.

Whjy is everyone *****ing about fuel costs. You buy a sports car to drive it like a sports car. You do not *****-foot around driving slowly with 300bhp under ya right foot! So, forget the fuel consumption arguments.

The Z looks far better than the 'stang, either stock or lowered.

Thats what I was trying to say, its all relative to the person. My uncle has had very bad experience with Nissan. When I told him I wanted one, he yelled at me, and told me not to buy one! He's had 2 nissans (altima, maxima), both have crapped out on him, and he said the 3 nissan delarships he delt with made him lose all faith in nissan forever, and he will never buy nissan again. Then my gf's grandfather thought it was the best idea in the world, he said his Maxima was one of the best cars he's ever purchased, I just don't like when people over generalize. Like I was trying to say, I'm not a huge Ford fan by any means, just making a point. My next car will be either a 350z or the G35c, my $.02 I'll shut up now!

I would never buy a FORD, but this Stang is, IMO, the best looking American car that has hit the streets in a loooong time. The only thing is the it's little too late. IF GM and FORD whant to rebound and make a profit they need to cut the stupid ties to the oil industry ( we all know who they are ) and get their buts of alternative fuel patents ( oil companies can do that to BTW, freaking bastages ) and make some cars that don’t need Petroleum.

the mustang looks very nice
its still a ford though thats what im worried about
depreciation, build quality, exclusivity, and 998 more reasons to not buy it
the vette is the only american car worth buying
but the build quality especially the interior is no match against european counter parts (M3, S4, C55AMG)

I was this close --> <-- to ordering an '06 Mustang GT to replace my '03 Mach1 until I did some checking and found out how crapped up Ford's marketing strategy is for their performance vehicles (they call them "HALO" vehicles because they generate a lot of floor traffiic for the dealers). Right now, at the beginning of the model year, Ford has the most popular options, upgraded interiors and sport interiors, on "limited availibility". WTF?? The new 18" wheel/tire option? Again, "limited availibility", and the dealers have no idea what the damn wheels (2 styles) even look like because Ford never bothered to send our any option information (BTW I did happen to see a set on a new '06 that was an overseas delivery. Not impressive at all. They look "heavy" - like truck rims). Order one like I want? Sure, except I'd have to wait even longer because the dealer is only allowed 32% of his new Mustangs to come in as 5 speeds. That's only 3 out of every 10 Mustangs in a model that is touted as one of Ford's performance icons!! I was also on the list for a new Shelby (MSRP estimated $38K), but rumors have that at $50K and climbing because of dealer price gouging. Nice car, but still it's just a Mustang, abet a very fast one. I'll pass until the hype dies down.

Forget Ford. I've been in my '05 UY Anniversary Edition for about a week now and my only regret is I didn't trade sooner. BTW, values on used Mustangs is down there with prehistoric whale dung, another reason to question buying domestic.
