Default Remote keyless entry

I'm wondering if the remote keyless entry system can be programmed to unlock both doors with one click. I know it's a "security" issue, but it's annoying to me to have to click twice to unlock the passenger door. Invariably, I click too fast or not fast enough then have to try again.

I looked at the '04 Service Manual for information but found nothing to indicate that it is possible. My '96 Grand Cherokee was programmable (by the dealer) to enable/disable this feature, so maybe this one is also?

I'm not sure either, I think we're SOL. I find myself having to click the unlock button 4 times to unlock both doors.

It might be possible to wire the door locks together in a way that when the driver door unlocks, the passenger door unlocks also, but probably not. Apparently, there is a LAN (local area network) in the car that communicates between various computer systems (controllers, devices, etc.) in the car. If I understand the documentation correctly, the remote keyless entry controller transmits an "unlock" command over the LAN and the appropriate door lock responds. Pretty cool, actually!

lemme see if i understand what you're saying... you hold the button long enough to open both doors, but not so long that the windows go down? that would be fine with me. it's the click, release, click again that seems to give me fits.

The way I insure the two doors to unlock each and everytime is by pretending that each door needs to be aimed at. Aim click, aim click. No matter how fast you do it you get that split second that the car wants to see the difference. If you hold the unlock down for more than 5secs both your windows will roll down.

Upon exiting the car you have up to 45secs to put up the windows before you have to reinsert the key and turn it to accy. However, if you crack a door before you try to roll up the window it will not work.

I wish the key fob would roll the windows up holding the lock function down for 5secs or more.

Double click the lock button and they'll do that with this simple to install module. You can optionally program this thing to automatically lock the doors 6 seconds after you put the key in and turn the ignition on.

You do have to remove the skin off the driver's side door and pull the mid-bass speaker to get to one of the wires you're hunting for.
