Test Drove 05 Z, felt really slow.

Did that Pop Charger help on the low end in 1st and 2nd?
actually when i test drove my buddy's broken in Z vs the dealership test drive one... his had a pop charger and i think thats where i might of felt most of the low end pull, but overall i think the Z has the best engine for a $30k car... im actually surprised that the entire car is priced that low for such a strong engine

Hypnoz, the bottom line is indeed what you're comparing it to; from a previous post, I'll assume the GTO. From what you've written above, you seem to be looking for a car that you think "looks" as cool as the Z w/the 400hp V8 'Vette-engined power of the GTO, for the same price. Unless you have an unusual definition of "beautiful," you aren't gonna find a car for 25-35K with both.
You've posted about the STi before. It's faster, stock, than the Z, but IMHO, it and it's Mitsu cousin, the EVO (also lightning fast) are both fugly, as is the GTO (they don't call it the goat for nuthin').
Other cars with the horses you want, together with the cool looks factor, are gonna be way too expensive, e.g., a 911 Turbo, Lambo, Ferrari, or SLK 55AMG.
What it sounds like what you "want" is a C6 'Vette, which can be had, stripped all the way down to base (you'd prob. have to special order), for about 45K. Even if that means you can't afford a new car until next year, I'd advise saving up and waiting.

I want styling as good as the Z, with a big V8 like the LS2, interior as good of quality as the GTO, with Handling/steering/brakes of an EVO. Basically a C6.
Thing is i just can't get it for 30k

I think i'll test drive a used 03 or 04 just to compare a broken in one vs a new one. It felt very quick to rev, and liked revving. I like the engine sound but the exhaust bores me (too "dry" sounding). If i were to get one, i'd just probably stick to an intake to get more of an engine sound rather then an exhaust.
When writing this post i was comparing it to a new GTO, my previous car (SRT-4), and my brother's chipped 00' S4 (240whp). Even my other bro's 04 V6 6spd accord "felt" faster. Maybe it was a factory slug... who knows.
If they put an LS2 into the 350Z that would be a perfect car. Honestly, i did not come here to attack 350Z's i just wanted to see if other people felt the same way, and it looks like some of you did. Maybe i'm just used to cars this fast....

30k mi., garage kept and serviced locally. C5 ZO6 is just slightly faster than regular C6 (the interior, except for the great seats, looks like crap, but you haven't mentioned that the interior is that big a deal).
If you keep looking at the Z, you may want to drive one with a few simple intake/exh. bolt-on mods for comparison. An exhaust makes a HUGE difference as to sound, and other simple bolt-ons make a big difference on the 'ol butt dyno.
BUT OTOH, some of us (that would be me
Good luck with your choice, and let us know what you settled on and why.
Feel fast or go fast? I was driving a peice of crap ford ranger four speed/over drive and I could roll the windows down, turn the radio up, and when my right foot hit the floorboard I "felt" like I was going fast. Then I would look out the window and realize that I was being passed by people who were on their way to the Grocery Store. Go-Carts feel fast, too. And since I've never had the money or inclination to get a luxury car, I like my Z's interior just fine.
I have to admit when i first test drove my car before i bought it, it seemed very sluggish. I'm pretty sure it was because it hadn't been broken in yet. The motor seems to smooth itself out after a few oil changes and at around 5k miles it started to really pull like a beast. If you had a turbo neon before, which btw are pretty quick cars, you're not going to get the same experience. I had a turbo prelude prior to the Z, and the Z doesn't quite feel as quick as my lude. IMO, front wheel drive cars feel quicker but aren't necessarily faster probably for one they are lighter. Also, if the traction control was on, this will rob you of a good amount of power going to the wheels. So if you really want a good assessment of the Z's power, test drive one that has 5k miles with the traction control off and launch it. enough said.

And also I don't want a vert, its just the only car that has everything else i want for decently cheap....but I could never get one (even if used) as the insurance would kill me.
Also- i am not sure if the T/C was on or off, i wasn't paying attention. I very well could of been on. smooth- i heard intk/exh does very little HP-wise?
I don't own one but I can say this, I test drove one in order to make my final decision between Legacy GT Sedan and a Nissan Z. The interior of the Z is just as good as the 02 corvette I had, and as far as not being pinned back in the seat, that a good sign. I'v driven and/or rode in alot of sportscars that are very fast and don't throw you back. When a car can accellerate quickly, and so smooth it doesn't throw you back its made well.
I don't think it's a sign of anything. My bro's 2000 Audi S4 is very well made and throws you back good (fairly smooth as well considering it is TT).
My other bro's 04 V6 Honda Accord threw me back harder than the Z, which was weird as they are both about the same whp, weight, and both N/A V6 engines.

Just because you get thrown back harder in a car doesn't not necessarily mean it's faster or pulls harder. Suspension must be taken into account. I've been thrown back in my seat by slower cars than my Z. Does that mean its faster???

If you ever come to the darkside and decide to get the Z, take your buddy on a straightline race, then off to some Canyon carving. My buddy has an 05 Honda Accord, and staying straight is where he only feels confident.
Take a Z into some hairy corners and you'll be introduced to a whole nother world of "feeling fast".

I've also noticed that the Z doesn't necessarily give the feeling like you are taking off real quick, but tell that to the traffic you are leaving behind.
