Hot 350Z
Two things happened in my Z this summer that confirms it gets hotter in here than other cars I have had. A cigarette lighter exploded once, and my sunglasses melted, and are unrepairable. Both things happened while the car was parked, before 1230 in the afternoon. That is very very hot.
I notice that my sunglasses in the holder get REALLY hot, which seems abnormal considering that they are completely sheilded from the sun up there. Also, if I leave my iPod in the center console cubby above the radio it gets almost too hot to touch when I come back to the car.
Nothin serious or anything, just weird

When driving my Z with the A/C off and vents open, with the thermostat set to the minimum and the fan runninjg, my car still gets hot inside. I live in Washington State on the west side and we don't get that hot. My A/C feels like a wet washcloth with air blowing through it.
Seriously, does everybodies A/C work great?
I'll bring it in dammit.

lexmounkhaty, I suggest turning on the AC. Apparently this isn't obvious. Also, be advised of where the sun is hitting in the car. AC or not its going get burnt. A lot of sun burns of drivers are actually from the window during relatively long trips.
Also, for when parked may I suggest a windshield cover (shady trees are not always a good idea... birds)? It may help keep the sun out and keep things cooler. the z isn't a big car, so when the sun gets in it really can heat it up.

My mom use to say to me....this is Pointless..Pointless..Pointless
Suggestions...
1. When you have your AC on, try the "recycle" air setting rather than “open air flow” from the outside on a hot and humid days.
2. Maybe change the temp **** down to the "blue" cold section instead of the "red" hot section.
3. Get your windows tinted.
But, before you can do all that….like everyone else said. YOU HAVE TO TURN THE AC ON FIRST.
P.S.
May I also suggest a portable fan mounted on the dash to cool you down?

I know for a fact that the Z gets hot.
2 months ago we were driving on the freeway and I was thinking about stopping to take a leak as I drunk a lot of water while watching Band of Brothers boxed DVD set when my wife exploded into flames. I guess this was due to the crazy temp inside the Z.
Well I though about turning on the AC to see if that would put out the flames but remembered just in time that I was in the Z not in a G35.
That was a real close one!
Never managed to get the stink of burnt flesh out of the car, any ideas?

NZDarren: good catch in the moment of panic - you almost turned on the AC! But you caught it just in time. I recommend replacing the passenger seat totally, no way you are getting that stink out of the foam etc. Driver seat should be ok. Also try Osium once you have the seat out.
