Default Who has had there car damaged at shop?

I can't believe this. Every time I take my car to the shop there is something damaged when I get it back lately. I have been avoiding taking my car to shops and doing my own work for years. But, there are just some things I do not have the equipment for.

Today, I had a shop check out my check on a lift for some exhaust work and S#!t, again damage. While putting the car on the rack they hadn't lowered the rack enough and caught my air splitter. I am not even lowered. I even warned them that I wanted they to take care and that I have had bad experiences in the past.

Then they had the gaul to tell me it was like that when I saw them do it.
Anyways, it isn't too bad. It is just a strip on the splitter that I figured I would catch someday myself and have some of the strip material at home.

So, tomorrow I'll have to pull it off and replace it before the RR-TI meet.
It's a good thing the lift wasn't a 1/4 higher or it would have ripped the thing off of there. Then I would have had bumper and splitter damage. I would have loved to hear them say it was like that then.

The thing is shops change ownership so much you can't tell the good from the bad anymore. I have had a lot of good work done at this shop in the past.

Then after all was said and done he wanted me to pay $400 plus parts for changing out the Muffler for straight pipes. WTF??!!! I have a quote for $80, which includes the material and tips. Sorry dude, your price is way out of line.
He goes on to tell me that it's at least two hours to fab this up. I tell him if I had the equipment I could do it in a half an hour. So, I ask him his shop rate. He says $70 an hour. So, then why are you charging me $400 for two hours that would be $200 and hour then? He says nothing. I say your price in out of line I will just have to take it to another shop.

Then he goes on.... Well they won't have the quality that my shop has.

That's when I lost it. I told him "Quality? You just damaged my front spoiler don't talk to me about quality, give me my keys!"

I wanted to tell him I was going to sue him for his negligence but, just wanted to get out of there.

Grrrr - I just needed to vent....

Dayum...sorry to hear that man. That's why I personally only take my car to a place where they have a well established reputation. Where in the Bay do you live? If you live relatively close to San Jose, I definitely recommend going to ZCarGarage. Some folks are willing to drive all the way from Sacramento & even Oregon to get their car worked on! Besides body work, that's the only shop that will touch my car. They will be there at the RR/TI Meet so look for a guy named Rob. Most likely he'll be driving his beautiful blue Skyline.

I have meet Rob @ Z Car Garage. I have been to a ZONC meeting at his shop.

He doesn't do custom exhaust work, does he? I'll have talk to him Sunday morning before the RR-TI run. I plan on meeting up with that group and running to KK and then to RR with them.

I'm going to have him do the Sport Koni's and Hotchis sways when I get the money.

BTW- I have seen the Skyline. That RH drive is awesome not to mention the performance of that car.

I have had my whole front bumper cracked to hell which also caused my fenders to start chipping paint by Performance Nissan's service department (notice I only give props to parts only in sig). If it wasn't for my habit of using zip ties, my fenders would have been smashed in as well due to their incompetence. I had 7 zip ties total and lost 5 from the ordeal. Waste of time and blood pressure

Well, just be glad that the shop didn't burn your car down. That's what happened to Z-INCOGNITO's car & it's a real shame . Apparently some truck next to him at the dealership caught on fire causing a big fire.

Warning! Not recommended for those with weak stomachs!

Did the service department not purchase you a new front bumper and paying for it to be repainted?

I surely hope so. I only wish this guy at the Muffler shop would have stepped up to fix my damage. It's not worth my time going to small claim court and my deductable on this affair would be $500. So for a $100 part (which I can paint) I'll be all fixed up by tomorrow. But, my point is I am not the one that damaged it and I should not be the one fixing it and out the $100 or so.

I mean, I'm out of work right now and don't need to be spending money fixing other peoples screw ups!

They DID... Something that rickdogg forgot to mention... Just thought that should be known...

If there is ANY form of damage that happens weither it be a tiny scratch that a customer magically notices after we wash their car and blame it on us, or even having a customer give us a manual transmission car with auto start and not tell us about it and have the car start and shoot across the lot and t-bone a brand new car... we fix it at no expense to the customer...

One of the things you get when you deal with a dealership that is good enough and honest enough to stand behind their work, labor, and errors...

Too bad not all dealerships are created equal.

Here, here! I figured that was the case Jason.

There are good and bad Nissan dealers. In my area 2 of 3 are good!

I just don't go to the 3rd one after giving them 3 chances.

They screwed up on all three times on different problems. Had to go to the

other dealerships to get these things fixed properly. Too bad that is the one

that is closest to me.

Yes, of course you guys purchased a new bumper for me after I had to ***** out Jose or whatever his name was. I couldn't believe that he told me that you guys were doing me a favor

Moving on Performance Nissan did take the service writer off the case and now Tony Nazzal is handling it, which made things a lot better/smoother. The bumper is at M1, but I am not going to jump the gun and say that I am taken care of just yet until the bumper and my fenders are taken care of, but I am sure it will be since Tony is on the case Sorry for not fully elaborating

well established reputation means nothing. Many members or this board think Altered Atmosphere has a well establish reputation and yet they managed to rip my seats, scratch my radio, and drill un-needed holes in my car and they tore out my electrical system looking for a short that was caused by them and and they didnt reconnect the wires when they gave the car back to me and the cooling fan wiring harness was caught in my accesory belt and chewed up, and they failed to install my nitrous to my specifications and lost many of the parts i paid for and lost many parts i already had on my car such as sway bar bolts and plastic engine cover clips. they charged me 400 over the quoted install price, and kept my car for 2 weeks for a nitrous install.

This problem is still being settled at there cost.

I dont know the details of what you said to them etc...

They should fix it with no questions asked... When it comes to things like this... You dont talk to the service writer... You either talk to one of us, Javier or Norm...

i had a the famed syncro grinding prob and took it to the dealer i bought my car from. well they replace the trans and get the car back and take right home and install an ati kit. well it wasn't till a few days after leaving the dealer i noticed my lower front bumper was cracked almost all the way through like someone hit a curb and just kept going. it was something that you SURELY would have known if you did it. the p.o.s. service manager did'nt even mention anything and he told me he was actually the one driving my car the most. oh ya, he even told me he took it home and out to eat and prolly humped his old lady in the front seat too!!!
so i kinda figured he owed me one so i was having a prob with my tt set up and wanted them to check it out with their consult 2. the p.o.s. never called mer back after 3 messages and basically they didn't even want to look at it for 15 minutes with me saying i will pay for it. dealerships can be real sh it cakes. i'm pissed now thinking about it again, i'm gunna go kick his ***!!!

where in the bay are you, and what are the two good dealerships? I'm in the south bay, and there are three Nissan dealerships nearby. I'm wondering what your experiences are like.
