06's delivered to Performance NISSAN... Initial Findings...

that means the old engine is producing more power up to atleast 4800rpm... and probably for a while beyond that too. Not 2000-3000rpm
Needed to clarify that
I was considering a 2006 350z... but with 150lbs extra I'm going to keep my 2003 for a bit more...

Wouldn't this be dependent on the shape of the torque curve up to 4800rpm? I heard/read that the 300hp engine has a flatter/more even curve at lower rpm's.

The new engine is undoubtebly a better engine, but 13hp 200rpm later does not compensate for 150lbs of added weight. I believe that in 2006 the 350z should have been able to compete with the E46M3(2000)... instead it has lower power to weight ratio than the 2002 350z... It saddens me a bit.

I don't think this ever got answered - will the non-Brembo '06s be able to use 17" wheels (pre-06 base/enthusiast wheels)? TireRack seems to think that 17s will fit on the '05 Track model, but I didn't think so.

It's still more or less the same engine, and being that torque curves are pretty much uniform, if at 4800rpm the old engine is producing more torque, it just means it is producing power faster atleast up to 4800rpm.
And I'm not an engineer, but there's a quote in the old Road and Track article that has me scratching my head, 6th paragraph (boy, these guys didn't like our Z).

along with the extra bhp, gives the V-6 a more linear torque curve. You may also notice a slight improvement at the car’s top end and a little less down low, but the general character of the V-6 remains the same; it pulls well off the line and runs out of breath up high.
Since the new engine produces less torque, it needs to rev more times per minute to produce same power. old engine = 287hp@6200 new engine = 300hp@6400. the 13 extra hp come 200rpm later... this also means that at 6400 rpm. the new engine is producing more torque than the old one.
the 300hp engine is a slight improvement... but not if you add 150lbs

I dont know the offsets of the new track wheels yet.. I havent taken them off the car,.. once I figure it out ill know if you can definatly put them on the front with a different tire size.... pretty sure you can, but not 100% sure yet...
