Default 0-60 problem

is that 0-60 meter in our cars accurate? I used it and was best at 6 sec. I don't think that i am that bad of a driver. I have a 6mt 03 touring (3,180 lbs.) with tein basics being the only mod. maybe the hawaii weather has an effect. could there be something wrong with the engine? or, hopefully, the timer is worthless. any suggestions? oh yeah, i had the vdc off and dropped the clutch at 2,500 rpm.

Escort Pssport GT2 Timer is a good electronic device to measure your times with, i.e. 0-60, 1/4 mi. etc. Can be plug into the cirgarette lighter, or use the "Direct Wire SmartCord" which can be wired into the fuse panel. I use the smartcord. Wired directly in and the wire comes out of my mirror (appxox. 4"). Hooks right into the windshield mount. Easy on/Easy Off. Check out the website: www.escortradar.com. Also check out the website www.radartest.com and read up about it also. Much better to read about it then just take our word about it. It stores 99 runs also. I love it.

The "timer" is just a stopwatch. It's only as accurate as you are, and when you're doing many other things at once, you're not that accurate. Put faith in the accuracy of the timer, but not in yourself as a start/stop actuator.

I've always been curious about how these things know when you're at 60 MPH.

How did you change gears and do your timer at the same time? And if you had a passenger do it, then you can believe the timing was way off. Elementry my dear Watson.

it's not that hard. it's not like I hit the button and shifted at the same time. as I started, I clicked the timer, shifted to second, then hit the stop button when I reached 60.

Yes, but you as a Human actuator aren't anywhere near accurate. If you're off by just 1/4 of a second on each end, that could account for some of the 6 seconds, and also you're probably not driving your best/shifting your fastest when you have your eye on the speedo and your finger on the button. The point is that it's not a scientifically accurate method of gauging 0-60 performance.

Default G-Tech

I have a G-Tech which I never really get a chance to use, but anyways, the best time I got 0-60 in my 04' G35 6mt was 6.31 s @98.2. This was the best of 5 runs (stock).

I'm sure I could get it closer to 6 s if I try a few more times.

My friend used it on his BMW M3, 6 speed, he got 5.3 w/ AC and 5.0 w/ AC off.

Yeah, I think your car's fine.

But just out of curiosity, which island and which highway?

Oahu, I don't know the name of the road, but it is the one near our tracks in the Campbell area. There were no cars around.

Nah, but I've been there lots.

I know lot of the highways are only 2 lanes, but H1 on Oahu seems to afford the most opportunities for racing and stuff (when it's not jammed during the daytime).

Miss the islands. Gonna be back in late October!

I have the Apex'i Rev Speed Meter and it actually plugs into the ECU and has a G-sensor so I can understand how that one would work. Of course I can't get it installed in my car because there's no diagram, .
