How much heavier is it? Remember each trim wieghs different with Base being the lightest with no LSD and smallers wheels.

Regardless how heavy the 06' stock Z is, you should be able to smoke 99.9% of European cars under $40k.

new base models come w/ the same rims as enthusiast/touring... 18 inch alum. alloys.

i would guess these rims added a bit of weight to the Z...

then theres diff engine components, new (bigger) brakes, new suspension pieces, maybe more sound dampening.... new interior pieces.... different headlights/tail lights (bi-xenon headlights, LED tails)... and maybe a new battery to support the new headlights (guessing!?)....

maybe all this would slowly add up to the increased ~150lbs. :X

Awesome safety ratings...

stiff as hell chasis...unibody...

have you looked underneath a Z lately?
There's more stiffening braces than the G35 and those are plenty heavy.

As far as the new Z?

what Sp1der said...

This weight added thing is not a good direction for Nissan to be going in for a sports car. If at all they should have thought of more ways to reduce the weight. I am a little disappointed.

wow! are you kidding?... It's gotta be the wheels among other little things. That's outrageous. My touring is probably closer to 3200 now that i've done mods like replace the stock exhaust, cats, headers...

Well... if that info is true, it looks like Nissan wasnt thinking when they were adding on extra parts. Maybe they really did just f0ck up. Could be they wanted the end result to be one way, and so after they added on all the parts, they finally realized the weight gain?

"Lets add this, and this, and add this to the suspension to help the feathering... Aw ****... it weighs about 150lbs more?... oh well."

http://www.nissanusa.com/

This is a lot of weight to make up with that little hp, and the torque loss.

I am guessing that it will be a little slower.

My only gripe about the 350z's numbers was it's weight.

I guess they wanted to make it more of a comfy ride like the G35c, to appease the masses. When that "hardcore" lightweight, straight-out-the-box track Z comes out in 2007, it will be a little more distinctive.

well weight can also be a good thing, like if there are more safety features. Truthfully, I'm completely fine with the weight of the Z. The frame is strong and that to me is more important than saving pounds like the Lotus Elise. At least I know that if I crash, I have a much better chance of survival than say an s2k.

Hopefully its better made now, with suspension that does not trash the front tires.

I don't care how heavy my Z is right now, its a fun car to drive and to look at. If you're really that concern, Mazda makes a little convertible.

Also, you can make the car weigh less yourself, carbon fiber this carbon fiber that, remove the spare tire and even one of the wheels , there's lots of ways to reduce weight.

I thought that the 35AE weighed 3299? Is the 3404 weight for the GT?
