Default Considering trading Z Coupe for Roadster

Well This has been my 3rd 350Z Coupe and I love it had it for a year. Im thinking next year in September or October to trade it in for an 07 (assuming no new faster Skyline comes out) to trade it in for an 07 Roadster or 06 Roadster if they are around.

The question is this. I heard by many that the Roadsters are way heavier than the coupes, which i dont agree, and that it is hard to make them fast. Is it true?

My second question is Im thinking of trading it in and Im wonderign if I should trade it in with mods or without? What would give me more? I know mods will do somethign but if its no tmuch I rather put it in the new car or something.

I really like the Roadsters! Here is my list of current mods so let me know if I should part them out or save for new car or leave them in the car? By next year Ill probably owe around $20K on it u think i can get thta much or close? To come out even?

you will get more money if you sell your mods seperately. Most people do not want a car that has been modded. This will also allow you to reuse any parts that are left over and use them on the roadster. I dont have the numbers in front of me, but if the roadster is heavier, it would be attributed to the extra mechanical parts to make the top go up/down. Also, I'm guessing that there are more body stiffening braces which would add more wieght.

Thanks camaro. Maybe Ill stop by a dealer and ask to see if I can test drive one. I remember test driving one at Performance Nissan in Duarte but it was Auto, it felt WAYYYYYYYYY less torquy than my new six speed I got but then i dotn know if it was the Auto trans. or the car itself.

I wish a dealer let me test drive one. I tried one time and they wanted to run my credit first. I dont appreciate that.

I traded my 03 Coupe in for an 05 Roadster. Roadster def. felt slower, but I bought it for more sunlight, coupe can't top that! 05 Roadster also drove better than the 03, no more bumpiness!

You will get raped on your trade, and they will give you nothing for your mods. Better off parting out and then selling on your own.

Here are the numbers. I'll let you debate if you think the roadster is "way" heavier or not. But if you are going from a 2003 coupe to a 2006 roadster, the difference in wieght is much greater then comparing a 2006 coupe to a 2006 roadster.

Example: 2006 roadster touring(3,600) minus 2003 coupe touring(3247) equals 353 pound difference. If you want to see how your car performs, find someone that is 353 pounds to seat in the passenger seat while you do 0-60.

2003 coupe:
Track: 3,225
Tour: 3,247

2006 Coupe:
base: 3,339
enth: 3,346
tour: 3,400
Track: 3,370
grand: 3,404

2006 roadster:
enth: 3,580
tour: 3,600
grand: 3,602

My shop told me there are "counter weights" that can be removed from the roadster.
One was pulled to do my APS install and there is still one in the rear of the car that needs to come out. They're supposed to help smooth out the ride. With the front one removed, I haven't noticed one bit of difference.

My vote is for pulling your mods, finding a clean pre-owned roadster and installing your mods on the new ride!
