Why do people think G35 is a class higher than 350z?

This thread is seriously pointless...
We all have our reasons for our purchase, as can be seen from the posts made in this thread. NO ONE IS RIGHT OR WRONG! Get over it people. No one is superior here. We are all essentially part of the same group since our cars are very similar.
I will say this though...Some of you take this comparison to the heart for no reason. We are talking about 2 cars that are made by the same company with the same engine, suspension, etc.
Lastly, the G35 IS considered a luxury car. That is it's competition class and people will associate it in that manner. If that makes some of you 350Z owners upset, too bad. It is what it is.
To that same extent, the 350Z is a sports car. If G35 drivers can't accept that fact, then too bad.
Have a good day folks...

WOW!! This thread has spun out of control! In my opinion they are both AWESOME cars! Do you think people over in Japan have this argument? The Fairlady Z is more of a sports car then the 350GT? If I could have gotten the Z I would have, but I have a young one so I needed the back seat. I bought the base G with cloth and no moonroof. I looked forever for this rare duck, why? Because I wanted the car for it's performance and Skyline heritage, not because I wanted leather and all that other crap. If I wanted that I would have bought a Lexus, or a Caddy. The fact is they are both almost equal performance wise, and they are both NISSANS. So lets all say thanks to Nissan Motor Corp. for these great SPORTS cars!!! oh, and by the way..........I'm 25, pretty young grandpa. LOL!

Nate_johnson17 - Grandpa at 25? Wow, now that's a first. You'd have to be in your early teens and your son/daughter in their early teens. I guess you have to respect that you both took on the responsiblity. But just Wow !!!!

i agree that this thread has spun out of control. both cars are nice. and simply
paying more for a car doesn't make it a better car. let's face it... at the end of
the day infiniti is nissan. reshape the logo however you like it doesn't change.
those who state the 350z is an entry level sports car have no reason to troll
the forums. those who are true enthusiasts know the Z comes from a lineage
that is highly regarded. from the days when the supras, rx-7s, etc. ruled the
streets.
the problem i have with inifiniti owners who post on these lists is that they
shell out a few more $$ and think they purchased something other than a
nissan. so what, you shelled out $40K on a G. i'm not impressed. i've shelled
out $60K on a porsche... $43K on a 330Ci and $47K on X5 within a 1.5 year
time frame. but who cares. btw the G is an entry level luxary car by dumb
definitions that have been posted in this topic. it's dirt cheap compared to
european luxary sedans that price well above $100k and like the Z have a
real heritage.
so please let's just put this whole Z vs G thing to bed. both cars are a good
value for what they offer. but admittedly neither is top of the game. the G
and Z are for the most part the same car targeted for different audiences...
in one case the sports car market and in another the luxary. same goes for
porsche and other exotics. they are not luxary cars. i loved my porsche but
i will be the first to say my 330Ci costing thousands less provided more luxary
and amenities. but it's okay, b/c porsche is a sports car. it doesn't try to be
a luxary car. same goes for the Z.

We debated between a G35 when we got our 350Z, but we felt that the G was an older person's car; more of a luxury car like a Mercedes. We specifically wanted the Nissan name badge because we wanted a pure sports car, not some fluffly old person's luxury car It kind of makes me think of the Corvette. GM doesn't make it a Cadillac, they put the Chevrolet badge on it.

Mecinoid, I'm saying I'm to young to be a grandpa like everybody on here says G owners are. I geuss that statement really doesn't make sense unless you read the whole thread.

Oh, now I get it. It's like when I was 25 driving a Thunderbird and everyone said it was granpa's car. Lol !!!
I have never bought into a age/car relationship. I mean there are kids out there with Porsches that look like they are driving Dad's car or, Z's for that matter. They just happen to live on the right side of the tracks.
I am middle-upper class, I guess. I do see a lot of stuff I want. I have always bought what I wanted or excelled to get what I wanted. I still don't know how that works but it does. I think it's called drive and knowing you can do anything you put your mind to.
I drive a grandpa's Mercury Sable. However, I do not see myself as a grandpa. But, I like it a lot. It makes for a comfortable ride for my parents, and wife. I have not had any problems with it. So, it's a good car imho. So, I guess I drive a grandpa car. Ha, ha, ha.
I knew something didn't sound right in that statement to me.
I really like both cars ... However, in the end I wanted a sports car vs. a sports coupe..... that's all.

Cars with more than two seats aren't sports cars? How about the Supra, and the Carrera, M3, the R34 GTR, and even previous generations of Z's, just to name a few. But apparently to a few people that have posted on this thread these aren't sports cars, they are sport COUPES!! LOL!!!

This is interesting. There's even coupe in the G35C name. G35Coupe. That's what the C stands for. How can it be taken any other way? Unless of course you just want to say it's a Coupe. Not a Sports Coupe. I think it is sporty enough to be considered a Sports Coupe.
I'm with the rest of you folks;
I think it is time for this thread to die.
People are just getting too wound up about it.

Have you ever sat in the back of the G35? Nobody over 5 feet tall can sit back there, great for my kids. I'm pretty sure that EVERY 2dr. car is called a coupe. I'm assuming they put the G35C so it doesn't get confused with the sedan. Well this thread was intresting to get other peoples point of view, but it's getting old!!!, sounds like lots of other Z and G owners are stuck on their cars, not me, I'm just happy I own one Thread...........time to die!
