Default Why do people think G35 is a class higher than 350z?

so many people think g35... not even g35c is a class higher than 350z..
people think that just because it has infiniti badge, it's more expensive and better car..
Few days ago, I was telling a friend I was debating what to get between g35c and 350z, and she goes, but g35 is too expensive! and trust me, it's not the first time I've heard that.. :P

Because it kinda is. Its more of the luxury one. Thats why its under the infiniti badge also.

Due to the Infiniti badge & better finished interior, the G35 is generally considered a higher end car.

well... g35 in canada starts at 40k all the way up to 51k
350z in canada starts at 46k all the way up to 58k
so I wouldn't say g35 is more expensive.... well maybe different story in states...
it's cheaper to get g35 in canada unless you are getting g35c 6mt

The 'M' version of Nissan is the GTR Spec V. That would be a even comparison wouldnt it?

G35C & G35 would be fairly compared to 3 Series Coupe & Sedan.

In the states the Z is less expensive than the G. If you're getting a Z, why not buy it in the states and convert it over for Canadian specs. Might still be the cheaper way to go.

if you think about it along the lines of the bigger picture though, the z is more expensive than the g. I mean you're paying for LESS seats, which to me, means you have the luxury of buying a car thats more impractical. Plus some of us have another car (i don't, but i kinda wish i did), which makes the z a weekend car and thus an expensive toy, where as everyone i know with a g uses it as a their daily drive.

With that in mind, i guess i've always thought that the z and g are about the same. It just depends on what you wanted when you spent the money.

my G isnt my daily driver.. either way, the target demographic for the G was for people who were looking for a 2nd car. not sure what the target demographic was for the Z. if the Z had the same quality materials/interior/ warranty/ price then i could understand but to me it seems the G is a step up.

another way to argue it is that you will never get a new G for $25k of any kind, whereas you could get a base Z for that after negotiating.

i dont think that any of this reflects badly on the Z. its great value for the $ and takes out many things that some people dont want/need from the G (which, for some enthusiests, means that you really get more)

I agree with the Infiniti badge part. I do not agree on the interior. That was one of the reasons I went with a 350Z. I couldn't get over how cheap the interior felt to me. What up with the analog clock as well?
It seemed like it was more smooth plastic. At least the 350Z seemed to have some texture to it for me.

Put a 350Z and a G35 next to each other. Based just on total hieght of the G35 alone you'll probably get a 350Z. The 350Z is like 2" lower stock. It adds to the overall good looks of the 350Z.

I like em both.

Price wasn't an issue, I could have gotten the G for cheaper then what I got my Z for.

The G is designed and marketed as a more sophisticated version of the Z. Its interior, love it or hate it, has more bells and whistles then the Z. The ride is a little more cushy. It has a back seat (kinda). It can be had with a sun roof. It carries the Infiniti badge.

As far as an argument as to which one is better? That's subjective.
