Default Car shut off on the highway @ 130mph

03 Touring Edition w/ just a popcharger.

I was going down a STRAIGHT HIGHWAY WITH NO TRAFFIC ON IT(b4 every flames me for going so fast) and was almost at redline in 5th gear, went to shift to 6th but I couldn't find it right away and realized that there was 0 RPM's...so I kept the clutch in and kept it in 5th gear(stupid) and turned the car back on and went on my merry way.

Now the only thing I can think of is this: you know how when u hit high RPM's and push in the clutch and just leave it in, they go down really low as if the car almost wants to shut off but then they pop back up. Well I'm thinking that they went from 6k RPM's to where idle was supposed to be but instead of popping back up, it just shut off. This is the first time it ever happend, and I have no check engine lights or any other abnormal activity with the car.

Should I be worried?

How new is your popcharger? installed recently. I got into an accident and my charger pooped off and when i drove away my car just shut off also. I have read that the pop charger sometimes causes this.

Always the same scenario too... high speed & pushing the clutch in. Nothing to worry about. If you get your air/fuel mixture adjusted at the dealership, that might fix it.

Just a tip for next time... 6th is right below 5th.

Just mess'n!

My popcharger makes my engine shut off every time I go wot and let the rpms drop. A normal issue..I hate it and re-installed the stock filter back on.

Wow, thats a good way to get someone killed. I don't think I'll be buying one of those if they are notorious for causing the car to shut off.

Z Boy ment that is an old issue with the popchargers, not that you pop charger is old.

Basiclly is been known that a Z with popcharger has a propensity to shut off if left in neutral after WOT, or in your case leave the clutch in after WOT, which is almost the same thing as having the car in neutral.

So you probably wont have this same thing happening again if you keep the car always in gear when driving (or leave the clutch press for too much time when driving).

May be this gets better after some time with the popcharger intalled...

I bought my popcharger knowing that it shut off the engine if you idle going 80MPh+ and sure enough when I installed the popcharger it did just that. Now after about 5,000 miles with it installed, I can idle my car at 100MPH+ without the engine stalling at all. I guess it just takes extra time for the ecu to get 'used' to the popcharger.

This happened to me twice within one week, same senario I`am going thru the gears doing 100 + mph. then i realize I have Zero oil preasure( scared the hell out of me) , cuase I thought I had done some serious damege, when I saw Zero rpm`s that was a relieve. I checked under the hood only to find that the vaccumm 1/2 hose from the UTR had come loose. Poped that baby back in there and now I have done 120 + a couple of times and droped to neutral and just let it coast and the RPM`s stay about 700 while you`re doing 120 mph, feels a litltle strange but now the engine won`t kill anymore, thought I share...

this happened to me also. i was going about 120 racing a RSX-S and revving pretty high when my car just shut off completely. I didn't know it had happened and exited the freeway and when my car was at a dead stop i just restarted it. weird.

I've never had this problem before....right after I installed my popcharger, i unplugged the battery for 20 minutes...and plug it back in and then drove it..this resets the ECU immediately as compared to driving it for a few hundred miles...
