It seems like everybody and their mom got a Z...
I agree that the ultra-exclusive feeling is great and won't last. However, there won't be very many compared to most cars, and we'll be the only group to say we got the first ones. The first year will always be special, and I wouldn't give it up for anything - even a lousy BLOSE stereo.
For what it is worth, I see more g35Cs than I do Zs. I normally see at least one or two g35s per day--- I might see that many Zs in a week here.
As you will notice I live in Orlando, so it isn't like this is some podunk town either.

Sorry, could not help myself. I don't think we will see a lot of 350Zs on the road for a few years. Singles and Marrieds with no kids will be the biggest buyers. When the used market gets going in a few years then you will see more cars as the orignal buyers buy newer versions of this car or jump to the hotest new car on the market at that time.
I read somewhere (hate it when I cant cite sources) that this year's production run on 350's is 24,000 units. Next year Nissan will run 22,000 units, and in 05 they plan on running 20,000 units. Seems to me Nissan wants this car to remain rare. In San Diego we have quite a few, I have seen 3 others on the road in the month that I have owned mine. I hope the decreasing production numbers make the car somewhat hard to get. As stated earlier in this thread, G35s are much more mainstream accessable. This is really a driving enthusiasts vehicle, not a family car/ grocery getter. I think the lack of seating/storage will keep the car out of the commute vernacular.
Yeah, I've seen about four other Zs on the street so far. I don't think the Z population is going to get that big in my area (Louisiana), since most people around here prefer trucks. It's almost impossible to find a 300ZX TT around here. I haven't seen one for sale on a lot since they were in production. But if the 350Z population does get a lot more crowded, it'll be a good thing. There will be more clubs to join, and a lot more aftermarket parts. And it might convince Nissan to bring out a turbo version.

i used to care about that whole exclusiveity thing, but think about it; they make the same amount of corvettes than zs, and in my mind, the z looks waaaay better than corvettes. and corvettes still get looks galore. even if there are z's everywhere, like there are corvettes, people are still gonna stare at your z and say "damn that is a nice car." plus, i live in los angeles, and it might just be me, but i've only seen two (on the same day!) in the past month. so they're still pretty rare round here.
Yeah, I know what you mean.
I waited for my 2000 328Ci sport which I ordered just like my Z. Got it in 2000. Pretty similar situations, new car (new style for the Bimmer), low availability, and I ordered them both.
Driving around when the 328 was brand new was a new experience for me. People honking, thumbs up, pointing, yelling "nice car", giving all kinds of compliments when filling up with gas. It was wild - and great - still last to this day although at a lesser frequency.
I am sure that will happen with the Z, because it always happened with my last 2 300Z's. But more so from the people that respect the car for what it was bred and refined to be. That matters to me probably more than just a simple glance and smile from a cute chick walking down the street (although that definitely puts a smile on MY face each time too).
Those people that have ever driven a Z and knows how the car gets into your system like a narcotic will give you a cool nod as your drive past no matter how many Z's they see!
Of course, if you bought the car because your eyes popped out of your head when you saw it sorry I just wasted 15 seconds of your life by making you read this post.
Have fun!
Drake.
