Default Cold weather and the Z.

Tonight was the coldest night I have driven the Z. It was 10 Celcius/50 Fahrenheit. The first thing I notice is that the CD kept skipping. I was already thinking of changing the head unit but WTF!? It's not even winter weather out and the BOSE head unit is already skipping?

Is anyone else getting this issue? Even my Jetta stock cd player doesn't skip in this weather.

PS: Man does the car sound more mean and feels faster in this cold weather. But I'm slipping more on the road.

Gah! I can't wait to change the stock head unit. But maybe the skipping could be caused due to condensation on the CD in the cold weather?

I'm waiting for all the parts for my system to come in and then throw that crap out...I'm looking for a headunit (non-screen) that will play DVD-mp3...

Cold weather and CD skipping doesn't correlate. The optical lens doesn't care if the CD is 30 or 100 degrees.

True. But, if the cd has some slight condensation, it could have some trouble when playing. Also, I have noticed in my player (not a Z), when the weather is cold, the loading and unloading of cds is a little slower. So the mechanical parts of the cd player do get effected by the weather.

cold weather definately plays a part in the moving parts inside the CD player...not necessarily condensation...it lags a little more loading and you can hear the mechanical of the cd player grind a little more...this is not just the Z...i'm basing this on a few cars that i've had....it just means low quality...HAHAHA
