Default Hi. My name is J. and I'm a torqueoholic.

I have a problem. I can't keep my right foot off the gas pedal. Everytime I have a streach of open road in front of me with no other traffic I find myself going thru the gears, shifting at 6000 rpms. I am addicted to this. Someday, I will probably get a ticket. I don't care. I'm a torqueaolic, addicted to the pull of the engine and the sound...oh the sweet sound of my engine at wot. I fear the only cure for my malady is to take my car to the track where I can indulge myself to my hearts delight.

I have a feeling I'm not the only one here who suffers from this disease.

Its a TERRIBLE affliction....makes you waste gas...take the long way going places....that stupid grin on your fazze ....why it was just this past Sunday, I was driving through a parking lot when a new Z owner(similarly afflicted) RAN across the parking lot(almost got himself hit by 2 cars) to flag me down...JUST to tell me he just got a "Z".....even though he almost got killed, when he got to my car...he still had that stupid lil' grin on his : fazze...He was OBVIOUSLY afflicted...

If you are a torqueoholic then you need to stay in the lower RPMS

Torque is directly proportional to RPMs. But you would know that already. Am I missing out on a possibly sarcastic remark by you?

I use to own this:

Thank God it was only a weekend toy and not my daily driver. 375 hp in a 2600 lb car makes it a torqueaholic's dream.

The Z produces max torque at around 4800 rpms. According to Nissan, if you want max hp, shift at 6000, but if you want max torque, shift at 4800.

I set my shift indicator to 4800. It blinks red at around 4300 and goes solid red at 4800. So, if I'm accelerating hard, I just watch for the light and shift... works like a charm!

I have a similar problem, I work literally 1.5 miles away from my apartment, and it usually takes me about 10 minutes to get home. I've been coping with it for a while now, its to a point where I don't even realize it.

I do. But "torqueaholic" sounded better than "horsepoweraholic".
