Default Driving Z Cross Country

Any help or advice appreciated.

My job is taking me from Maryland to Fresno, California in late November. Plan to drive my 350Z to California as I will be there for several months. Any advice on Interstates appreciated. I plan I270/I68/I70/I44/I40/I15. Was hoping for northern route but possibility of snow killed that idea.

Folks I have talked to are divided - Some say take I81 to I40 in Knoxville TN and I40 all way across. Others say no, too many trucks and Interstate I40 is in bad shape in the east/midwest and I should take I70 as far as I can.

Any other advice on the long Z trip would also be appreciated.

just take I-80...you'll be fine....carry chains though just in case. Just watch out for black ice between 5-7 am in the morning hours around Ohio and Colorado. Good luck to you.

I’ve driven Sacramento – Baltimore, Baltimore – Sacramento several times, and I’m trying to visualize your route in my head. In late November, forget I70 through Kansas, Oklahoma and Colorado. If you hit a snow storm in Kansas or Oklahoma, you’ll be snowbound for a week.

As far as traffic, I sleep during the day and drive at night. Are you sure that you’d rather not fly?

Driving a Z is much more fun than flying.

Agreed. Flying is for wimps.

When I was active duty Navy, frequently drove coast/coast.

Stay away from I-40 in the East/midwest. So many drivers with "attitudes'. Also, I-40 is beaten to a pulp by so many trucks. With that said, I-44 out of St. Louis is no picknick either. I-70 is very pleasant, PA was the pits but otherwise OK.

BTW: I can hardly wait to see someone try to put chains on the Z. LMFAO.

Good luck driving the Z in snow. It scares the s**t out of me in the rain. Maybe consider a tire change for the trip...
