2005 U.S. Year to date Sports Car Sales
I recall a discussion where someone asked how many Z's were sold.
In poking around looking for some automotive Podcasts, I found this Sales chart.
Thought folks would find the 350Z sales compared to the other cars very interesting.
This chart is the U.S. Sales for Sports Cars for the 2005 year.
The website that I found this on, http://www.automobear.com/index_home_content.html
is very interesting

So much for us having a unique car. I could personally care less because to me, low numbers just mean they will stop producing it. The entire world could be driving SS 350Z's and I would still like mine just as much. I am not trying to impress anyone except for myself.
If you want the real numbers, check out http://www.nissannews.com/
I find it hard to believe there are more Corvettes being produced than Zs.

I was curious to see if Nisannews could validate the number in the chart i posted but was unable to.
I went to nissannews and searched on "sales" in the Corporate area.
It does have a sales report for each month but it does not cover every car and it obviously has PR bent to it.
Each month that I randomly chose always was good news
Example: "Best May ever for Nissan Division"

It never occurred to me to look at those numbers and think "not unique"
When I first looked at the chart and saw that the Z was the second best seller, my first thought was "Great. Nissan will not kill off this car"
My second thought was "People sure must like it a lot. I made a good choice"
I never bought this car with the idea of it being unique.
I simply test drove several sports cars with good reviews that I could afford and I liked the Z the best.

i always thought the corvette was a 40,000 unit per year car.
i wouldn't complain about exclusivity and the Z. i'm happy to see those numbers. it means the Z tradition will carry on for years to come

You would be suprised about Corvettes, every old person and THEIR grandpa has one....I see 5x the amount of corvettes then I do Z's, I see probably 1-3 a day for the Z, its like 5-10 for the vette.....its an old person car, I was cruising the other day, a silver 06 Z06 with a white haird old guy in it lol....

Sounds like the chart is correct then.
It is showing ~22,000 from Jan till Sept and there are 3 months left so that puts the number at around ~28,000 for the year.
Okay so my math is off a bit but YOU you did say AVERAGE

If you look at the Dec YTD totals plus the September 2005 YTD total that's 101,996 Z's sold by NNA. We're barely into the 4'th production year so it's about 30,000 per year. Certainly not a flood of cars that will make them appear to be all too common.
I'm happy to live in a place where I'm lucky to see one or two other Z's per day - makes mine stand out even more. I feel sorry for you guys out in CA where it sounds like there one on every corner (j/k).

Sorry guys... it's all my fault. I've buzzed way too many people since purchasing my Z! They're probably like, what the hell was that, I think it was one of those new Zs??? I must have one, whatever it was, mmmwhhahhahaha!
