So, just wondering what car would be faster.

Z or Z4.

Z or Z4.
350Z weighs 3225 lb w/ 287 HP = 11.24 lb/HP.
Z4 weights 3053 lb w/ 265 HP = 11.52 lb/HP.
350Z has advantage in torque as well at 274 vs. 232 ft-lb.
But 0-60 mph times are ....
350Z = 5.93 sec
Z4 = 5.7 sec (0-62 mph).
Must be the gearing. But 350Z is more than $10K less than Z4. If I buy a track car it will be a 350Z track and not Z4 coupe.

0.63 second difference is alot in 0-60 times. 5.3 sec is probably the fastest time Nissan got and 5.93 sec is probably the average time Edmunds.com got.
I'm staring at 2 issues of C&D on my desk. One is the Aug. 02 issue of the first C&D 350Z road test. The Z is pictured on the cover and it reads:
"First Test! Nissan 350Z Zero to 60 in 5.4 for less than $27,000!"
The other is C&D's Jan 03 road test of the BMW Z4 pictured on the cover. It reads,
"BMW Z4 From retro to techno 5.4 to 60!"
So, according to C&D anyway, they had identical 0-60 times back in 03.
The blurb in Nov 05 R&T (which I have in front of me also) says the Z4 will now have a 255 hp straight six. That's a 30 hp rise from the 225hp 3.0. Of course the Z now puts down 300hp, but I read slightly slower times. Then add the usual considerations of torque, weight, driver, yada yada and who knows. What is even more exciting is the news of the BMW Z4M @ 360horses! Can't say I like how it looks yet (in hardtop). I talked to my wife about possibly trading up, but she is not intersted in more hp, she's more than satisfied with her 2.5 Z4.
Oops, the site does say 265 hp. Guess R&T has it wrong. Wow, that is a 40hp increase. Wonder how they got a slower 0-60 with that type of increase?

anyone noticed when in traffic, BMW's NEVER will merge behind you? Like today it was empty behind me for like half a mile, infront a bit over a cars length of space...the BMW
meanders past me and proceeds to enter right infront of me...wtf..always..I did'nt settle for that so I pulled out and cut back in 10 cars ahead..F'ing snobs...
