Default One week old and my clearcoat is peeling :(!

I just got my car last monday but today I finally had a chance to really clean/inspect the car. After wiping inside of the passenger door down I noticed that my clear coat is peeling. I am almost positive the clear coat was this way last monday but somehow I missed it. I did talk to my dealership but its not guaranteed Nissan will cover the cost. They first have to inspect the damage and determine what and who caused the defect. If Nissan agrees the damage was not caused by me, any body shop of my choice will fix the repair. It just outright sucks to have to go through this **** ! Comments ?

Andy

haha, dont think so man. 99% positive thats remenents of the cover that went on the kick plates, like a protective plastic.

except that part is near impossible to remove, little bits and peices come off at a time.

oh, and mine looks exactly the same, but its stretchy, not flaky, so its not paint, its plastic. sit down for about an hour pulling it off and itll be gone. a major pain yes, but not the end of the world.

Looks like they didn't do a very good PDI on it....

Just peel it off....it looks like it's just plastic....not clearcoat.

HA! It is the plastic. My car had the same laminant on. Just peel it off and move on before the grays start kicking in.

Ya, don't loose any sleep Buzz - looks like that protective plastic stuff. I think if the clearcoat were to somehow start coming off, it would probably come off in little chips (like paint) instead of what you have.

I would be willing to take the entire car off your hands for a modest discount from your cost, i know you would much rather buy a new one. Forget the body shop and don't show anyone else at all, i'll take it.

HAHA, you guys were right. It was not my clear coat, just the sticker that was left over from the kickplate. Before I was to scared and upset look over it. Anyway thanks for the laugh! Later, Buzz !
