Default Is My Temperature Gauge Lying To Me?

My temperature gauge seems to reach normal operating temperature faster than most cars I've driven. A couple of blocks up the street from a cold start with the weather in the 50's and its already reading in the middle of the gauge. I don't want to push an engine that is not fully warmed up. Is this normal or do I have a gauge that a little too quick to announce that everyting is warmed up and ready to run?

Mine does the same- I usually watch the oil pressure gauge until it settles into normal operating range which is usually a few minutes after the temp gauge has settled.

+1 on the oil pressure gauge being within normal ranges before even driving normal or hard!

My temp gauge also shows a "normal" temperature pretty quick. But based on the oil pressure, I know that block and all the oil hasn't come up to norm. oper. temperature.

Gotta love those aluminum blocks.

They warm up quickly and retain heat pretty well.
