Welcome

and the warning sign for low gas is on all the time eve tough the gas is full. is that the way it is suppose to? – No. The “low fuel” light should come ON when the fuel is…ummm…low.

also the carpet underneath the driver seat is wet every time its raining – This is a serious problem. Water inside the car will soak the carpet, and eventually rust the floor. Have the leak checked by a competent shop.

Congrats on your new purchase....

As for the wet floor mats I've had the same issue with my suby 2.5RS and on both VW's I used to own...

In those cases, there were drain plugs missing.... Might be a simple problem... get it looked at fast, as water=corrosion

I am not positive on this, but the fuel pump assembly, which is located behind the passenger seat, has a lever attached, which is the fuel indicating sender. This might have a switch attached that would send the signal to the dash panel. If you are not too much of a do-it-yourselfer, then I would take it to the dealer. The rain issue might be a seal which goes around your wiring harness to the ecu. If you take off the plastic covers by the battery, you can see a round rubber grommet-type cover. You have to remove all the black plastic parts, not just the battery cover. This grommet snaps into the body, if it has come loose or the plastic holders have broken off, it will leak into the passenger floor area. This is pretty serious, because your ecu and main wiring harness are all there. If these get wet, you could be in for some big troubles.

If you're under warranty definitely get it into the dealer quick because those sound like problems you should get fixed for sure. Welcome to the site by the way!

Regarding the fuel issue, I had the same issue for the past few months. The dealer confirmed the fuel sending unit was bad and replaced it yesterday.

All is well now.
