parking technique: what gear are you in?
E-brake only isn't too smart. There's a fine line between having the lever all the way up and being a few ratchets too short. I use first or reverse, either one gets more than enough resistance from engine compression to keep you parked.
Oh, and first/reverse doesn't make a difference whether you're parked uphill or downhill. The only additional thing you might want to do is turn your steering wheel in the direction that will cause the front wheel will roll into the curb instead of traffic if maybe you do forget to put the car into gear.

Like if you are parked 2cm away from a wall and lurch forward, you could hurt your bumper pretty bad...
