Also;
If you really think that that standard Nissan engines, NA or not, are better than AMG engines, you amuse me.

We're all so glad that you let the 350z community realise just how much better the crapfire is over our Z's, thank you very much, now leave.

I love how well thought and and substantive your justification for the ad hominem "crapfire" is.
That's my favourite part.

Why can't auto enthusiasts all get along? Why am I supporting an old thread? My bad.

Your argument is invalid. It makes less sense than the screams coming from an abattoir full of retarded children.

When I was going around looking at Z's at dealerships, one dude tried to sell me a Crossfire instead, I LOL'd hardcore at him. They most definitely look like something that I produced after 10 minutes on the toilet this morning.

wouldn't be much point in that. No one is arguing that the z is faster stock,it isn't. that's well and truly been tested-not least of which by the Road and Track article I posted.
If you want to play the mod game, it would have to be mutual. Yes, the z can be made faster than the stock '6. Then, the money spent on top of the z purchase price would have to be allowed for mods on the '6 as well.
The mod argument is really pretty silly-the cars aren't in the same class performancewise stock, and they are priced accordingly. I dig the Z for what it is-a performance car bargain.
Also as for opinions-there are a lot being bandied about-just not by me. I'm sticking to fact, thanks.

no it is not "souped up", it is a car as sold from the factory. stock to stock it is faster, as I said this is to expected, they are in seperate classes and price brackets. As for engines, your argument of "worse engine" might hold water if the FI resulted in similar performance to the stock Z. It doesn't. It results in a car that's half a second faster to 60, and a second faster in the 1/4. And as previously stated, it is also a smaller engine. I think there is a misconception that the SRT6 is a normal Crossfire engine with a SC. It's not-it's hand built from the ground up, designed to be integrated with the blower.
Once again,
Are you claiming that the 350z engine is better made than an AMG merc engine?
Seems like a hard point to argue.
edit:
given that the cars are different weights, it would be more appropriate to look at HP. The '6 is 50 hp or so up on the newest zs, not bad for an engine 300cc smaller.

I think bumble z understands stock for stock the str6 is faster. I think what his point might be is that with a supercharger or turbo setup on both platforms with the same boost levels the z would be faster. If that's what he is saying the z most likely would be faster because the z has a bigger displacement engine. The z really does come alive when turbo'd or charged. Anyhow im not sure that is his point or not but im just trying to read inbetween the lines...lol. The z is a very torque engine even in Na form and when boosted they do very well.

my contention is that we are comparing stock cars. If you want to start modding one, you have to be allowed to mod the other as well. That is why these mod-based pissing contests are pointless. if you TT the z, I'll swap out all my pullies, do the exhaust and interooler, get a tune, replace the manifolds and y-pipe, etc...
As a matter of fct, I'm around 380HP anyway with just a sc pulley swap and CAI.

wolfman101: What im saying is this for example. Let me exaggerate for a bit so you get my point. Ok lets compare your srt6 to a corvette c6zo6 for example. Put the same supercharger setup on the corvette z06 that your car has and it will be faster period because of the displacement. You change the pulley the z06 changes the pulley it will probably be even worst for you at this point the z06 per mod will gain more hp per cylinder than your car. now replace this same concept with the z except it will be more similiar of course because the z doesn't have a 7 liter engine. So..it isn't true that per mod that the srt6 will be faster some engines dont respond to mods the same. Some engines gain alot of horsepower from x mod when another cars engine gains or even losses power with the same mod...you see what im saying. The z is known to have really good gains with boost. Why do you think alot of tuners use the z as a platform to boost.

I absolutely get that. It just gets fuzzy when you have mod contests.
I just get sick of cars not being "allowed" in comparisons because they have different engine sizes, are FI, or whatever. When someone says "what's faster, an R8 or a GTR?" you say the GTR. This is because that is the faster car out of the box.
What's faster, SRT6 or 350z? SRT6.
What has more modding potential? 350z.

well...yes you are right out of the box the the srt6 is faster than the 350z in the straights. Keep in mind their is a 370z out and with only exhaust and an intake and tune hit 12.98 or something in the quarter Na....that's pretty impressive.
