Default Side Body Trim Piece

Just noticed the Zzzzs don't have a trim piece along the doors to protect against "dings" from others opening their doors into you.

Before I get jumped on to hard here, I don't mean some chrome strip that screw up the looks/lines. On our Highlander there is a body trim piece in the same dark blue as the drop-dead-gorgeous-looking blue body color. You really don't see the trim piece.

Anyway, any chance someone will come up with an aftermarket trim piece? And do you think it would be a good thing....assuming it is the same color as the car body?

I just hate to think of the "nicks" that I know are inevitable over time on the Zzzzzzzzzz.

Maybe you could try the body side molding that is an option on the G35c. Most colors are the same as ours

You can get this for the Z as a factory accessory. It comes color matched.

How come Courtesy no longer advertises this?

Factory accessory? That would be terrific. I did not see it as an option nor is it on the Courtesy page.

Has anyone bought a Z with the side molding? If so, any pics?

I believe you're incorrect. You can get the Z with color matched door edge guards, NOT body side molding. Big difference.

Anyone else "bothered" (not sure thats the word I want) by lack of protective body molding?

Any aftermarket companies likely to make one?

A lot of cars are coming out now with no body side molding, even as vehicles get wider. I think it's a scam between the automakers and the dent repair companies!

I am pondering having the body side molding from G35 coupe installed on the Z. They are relatively cheap($100 or so) and looks good on the G35 coupe.

One user fabricated his own not too long ago due to the ding factor. Didn't look half bad either. I'm sure some of the regulars remember this post too. Look it up Rat, it looked pretty decent.

Thanks,

in the mean time, i guess this will have to do. Now the problem is that curious people/potential thief might 5 finger discount it.

Man, someone dug into the archives for this one! I posted it in December of 2002.

Anyway, glad to see someone come up with a solution. So far I've avoided any dents but still might try to have a local shop come up with a piece.
