Default Well guys it finally happend...

Hey guys it finally happend to me. I was driving around town doing 50 in a 40 like the normal traffic and a cop pulls me over just because I had a Z. He says I was doing 65... . I was like WTF?!?. So he writes me up and he also said my registration was expired which I knew it was. These pigs have nothing else better to do other than harass us Z drivers. He was *****in about my exhaust but I told him it was legal. How much do you guys think the ticket will be? And should I fight it? I really need to get a good radar detector.. which one do you guys recommend? I know the valentine 1 is good or should I get a passport 8500.

Lol no its not. It was probably my tags. But which detector would you guys pick Because I didn't see him anywhere and he stopped me and said I was speeding plus he said my tags were expired.

Did he clock you on radar at 65? If he didn't get you on radar and is just claiming you were going 65 you could fight it. Did you admit guilt? Never admit to speeding or anything illegal. EVER

Your speeding & driving with expired tags and you blame it on the Z & the cop?

I don't think so.

you were speeding and said your tags were expired. Your better off just paying the ticket instead of getting the fine+court cost. I could see complaining about a cop that pulled you over for no reason, but you were guilty. Live and learn: Get yourself a valentine1.

+1

i remember years back a cop pulled me over b/c he saw me nail past him as he
was turning. no radar. no speed. he still pulled me over and had his partner on
the other side of the car. then asked if i knew why he pulled me over to see if
i would admit to speeding. me like noob said yes, i was speeding. he wrote me
up for wreckless even w/o radar or speed.

since i didn't tell him how fast i was going, judge reduced to "Improper Driving"
i didn't even know such an offense existed.

He had every right to pull you over and cite you. Take it easy on the cop stuff, I'm sure we have officers here who own Z's. I personally had a local officer hook me up because he owned a Z. If you can't do the time don't do the crime.

Glad to see that you have a positive attitude. I don’t believe that cops seek out the 350Z, but I do believe that the car demands attention. Everyone’s attention including cops.

I'v read alot of ppl using the V-1 on these boards, is V-1 the one that has the 3 hidden lights that mount in your guage cluster and has the deterctor outside the car on liscense plate mounts that can occassionally deflect radars? I remember seeing advertisements at car shows about these radar detectors and how they pay your 1st ticket if you get one because they are supposed to block radar and yadda yadda but I forget the name.

I have an Escort Passport 8500 and for half the price of the V1 I'm perfectly happy with it. It has hella good range and it's really just more of an "Oh ****! Slow down" warning than anything else. I don't need to know where the cop is, I just slow down when my radar detector goes off. I'd recommend it any day.

Prolly scoped you out from up above. They use planes/helicopters to fly parallel to the hwy. They mark two white lines on the asphalt as reference points and the time it takes for you to go from one line to the other, they then use a math equation to determine your speed. Next, they radio ahead to a ground unit your location and vehicle description. Pretty sneaky.

Dude, get a Valentine 1 and you'll be happier than a mother. Sure it costs a litlle more but the directional arrows are great because they tell you where the bogeys are coming from.

No he didnt clock at me at 65 but he just said your approximate speed was 65 in a 40 when all the other cars around me were going around 45-50... the same speed I was going at. But I know he pulled me over for my expired registration. Yeah the Z does get alot of attention from everyone but I probably got more cuz of my exhaust. But the 65 in a 40 zone is total B.S. I don't wanna go to court and have him show up and say all his story an the judge might take his side. I will get my new tags soon but he wrote me up for speedding with expired reg. I can take care of the expired tags but I will just pay the speeding fine. But this is my 1st ticket ever since I started driving when I was 16. I am 21 now and it really sucks.

Yeah, cops do target Z's. One night coming from my work for example. I was doing the a lil below the speed limit. Just cuz it was a Z. He decides to go behind me. So I slow down a lil more and pull to the right lane for him to pass. Cop goes on the right lane. I saw that the speed limit change to 40. So I hit 40. He finally decided to make a u-turn and go after another car. If it wasn't for the way I was driving. He would've probably pulled me over for no reason. Cops also pulled me over for a checkpoint cuz I was driving my dad's altima with rims b4 I got my Z. Anything sporty will be discriminatory. For cops that is. Definitely get a good radar detector. Never know when they will pop out of no where.

I own an Escort 8500 not an X50 and it is still a darn good detector. I have heard that the current V1 software version is having problems with J "junk" detection. I've also heard that V1 is coming out with a new design very soon. I am waiting to see what develops.

you're lucky the cop didn't beat your ***. they don't like black people around here as much as they do in seattle.
