What violation did he mark you down as? Basic Speed Law, 22350? Or something else?

I don't wanna go to court and have him show up and say all his story an the judge might take his side. I will get my new tags soon but he wrote me up for speedding with expired reg. I can take care of the expired tags but I will just pay the speeding fine. But this is my 1st ticket ever since I started driving when I was 16. I am 21 now and it really sucks.
If this is your first ticket, go to court ask for traffic school on the speeding ticket after you have your reg current. The court will charge you about $200 for the speeding ticket and another $50 for the school. :[

At least if you do this the ticket will not be on your record. Just don't get another ticket for another two years or that one will go on your record.

Good luck ..... keep your reg current and they might let you slide next time.

Don't give them a reason to pull you over. Like no front license plate. If you didn't have one on at the time consider yourself lucky. I think that is another $100 fine now in California if the cop needs the money for his jurisdiction.
However, that one will not go on your record. It is not a moving violation. It is a equipment violation. It just cost a couple of bucks.

Actually it's 18 month in between traffic school and the judge can offer a special circumstance if it's been 15 months. Rare..but it is possible.

A friend once told me only morons pay and accept fines for speeding tickets (aka Basic Speed Law violations). I have learned since then....it is completely true.

As GI Joe said...."Knowing is half the battle!"

That's not necessarily true. Just because you get new tags and showing them to the court doesn't mean they'll waive the fine. Remember, at the time of the incident , you didn't have valid tags... well, that's how it is here in Arkansas. It all boils down to how the judge is feeling for the day.

Apparently, it is different in So. Calif. It is now 24months in Santa Clara, Co. I agree "knowing is half the battle."

In Santa Clara Co. the judge can allow you to go to traffic school in lieu of ticket going on public record at any time, with any amount of tickets on your record. However, it is very unlikely he will budge off of the 24 month rule right now. I guess traffic was getting too crazy around the Bay Area. I still don't see people slowing down. I never used to see people doing over 80mph. Now it is a daily occurance to see someone breaking 100mph plus barrier.

I use the 10% over rule. So far no tickets .... however being pushed yesterday on HWY 80 by white truck with rack. Could have sworn it was the man on my tail. I thought my day had come. I was about 15mph over or 80mph and no where to go or get out of the way. That's when you hope the guy doesn't hit you cause it would be over in a flash.

Dude, I think the first thing you should do is save up your money and keep your registration current.

Cops really love pulling people like you over and giving them a ticket. Because, after getting the ticket you discuss it with all of your sidewalk attorney friends who assure you that if you take it to court you will hand the cop his a** in court.

The funny part is that cops in California get a minimum of 4 hours of overtime to appear in court. Lets see, in CA, most cops at top paystep make about $40.00 an hour X 1.5 (overtime) = $60.00 an hour X 4 hours = $240.00.

Not too bad for making a 5 minute appearance (win or lose). Hell, that's not bad at all. All the cop would have to do is go to court 3 or 4 times a month and he could pay for his own "Z".

Then, when you spend whatever money you have on a radar detector, you can **** cops off even more when they pull you over for some retarded fix-it-ticket and they see your super duper "cloak-master 3000" hanging on the windshield and know that you will be speeding in your "Z" whenever you get a chance.

Save your money for your registration and premium gas....................

umm mchong. I'm not saying every cop does that. I'm saying some do because I've had past experiences with my car and my dad's car. My Dad's altima 3.5 is modded out lightly. Just the other day, this cop starts following us on the highway in the RIGHT lane for 5 minutes straight. I told my brother to be careful because I looked back and saw him. My brother didnt do anything wrong so we didnt get pulled over. But to be followed in the right lane of the highway for 5 mins. seems odd for not doing anything wrong. Cop eventually got tired and moved to the left lane and sped past us. He pulled into the center median of the highway to find someone else. I'm telling you, if you have not only a Z, but a modded out car. You will get cops attention whether or not your doing something wrong. So, no ignorence here, just experience.

My Cobra radar detector supposedly detects Spectre units. I don't think they're actually used in AZ and radar detectors are perfectly legal here, but I've gotten a few false Spectre alarms nonetheless.

If you want to be really slick, next time tell him your gps will track your speed and you can upload it for info at a later time............that made all the diffrence when I was pulled over and was not speeding...no one wants to look like a fool in front of a judge

While he may have had just cause to pull him over in this instance, my experience is that cops are nothing more than trained monkeys of low intelligence. I wonder how many real crimes are being committed while they are out ticketing people for driving a little over the speed limit instead of cruising trouble neighborhoods. And.....they always talk to you as if you were some kind of hard criminal. There is a very fine line between these pigs and the criminals they supposedly protect us from. Most are far too stupid, lacking in life experience and uneducated to responsibly use the power they are given. Most are easily corrupted, I believe.

I was once calling in to the state police when I saw a elderly couple with a broken down vehicle on the side of the road as I drove by. The cop on the other end was so rude and arrogant like I was committing a crime myself by calling.

I had stopped to help at an accident scene once, and the cop who first came on the scene acted as if I was doing something wrong by being there. Again, nothing but rudeness and arrogance.

My general experience with these monkey butt holes has been bad, bad, bad.

Could I possibly make my feelings any more clear? The majority of pigs give the few good cops a bad name.

I just ordered the Escort Passport 8500 X50 (With the Blue display). It's gotten very good ratings for radar/laser/POP Protection. Can't wait until I get the darn thing (New for about $265.00 + shipping)

Other will also say the Valentine V1, which is also top notch, but a bit on the pricey side for me (At least $400.00 + shipping)
