Question shifting

Hey, I herd if you skip gears while you shift, for example 1st to 3rd or 4th to 6th, it will throw off the synchronization of your transmission?? Sounds like crap to me. Is that true because sometimes i see no reason to shift into some gears occasionally.

It's BS. But, Rev-matching is your friend when doing this.

When shifting up --say from 1 to 3 I hold the clutch in longer then normal to let the rpms fall so to match the rpm to the speed of 3rd gear. when shifting down from 4th to 2nd then I will clutch in and give the throttle a blip to increase the revs to match the speed to 2nd doing that everything is safe and smooth.

+1, good point about holding the clutch in longer to let the rpms fall more.
