Default Here is a lesson for all, know what your getting before you get it!!!

So ever since i bought the car off the show room floor (Black on Black 350Z used with 3000 miles on it) i always had this check light that came on on me. the code read gross evap leak. so i take it to the dealer 3 times and no one can could find the problem. so i finally get sick of sitting in the car and it smelling like a gass pump. i drop it off and let the dealer hold on to the car for a couple of days when i get a call that they droped the gass tank to replace it and find a drill hole in the tank. well i bough the car used with an intake exhaust and full system as you all can see in my signiture. so long story short who ever installed the system before i bought the car drill strait throuhg the car into the gass tank to mount the amp rack. kinda scarry!!!

This just teaches you to know where everything comes from and who actually installed you parts.

And to think if i was a smoker what would have happend!!!

yup this is for real, when i was talking to some service guys, they kept questioning my amp install. i told them i did it myself and did not drill anyholes back there. back there meaning behind the drivers seat. he said alot of owners were drilling holes through the tank and causing their light to come on. this in turn causes you to have to replace the entire gas tank and a few hundred bucks. be careful who installs your stuff cause some moron from best buy wont know and will drill holes thinking, "hey great install ive done here" and now youre literally screwed.

Horror story indeed. Did you buy the car from a Nissan dealership? If so, it should have went through their 100 point check.

Man I am glad I read this! So, your amp rack was drilled in behind the seats where exactly? I am getting my old system installed soon and want to make sure this does not happen to me.

Try hanging a mounting plate from the stock 10mm bolt holes like this:

Not pretty but it works and no holes in the gas tank. The steel straps are just earthquake/huricane straps from the lumber department of HomeDepot.

Yes i bought it from a dealer.

and

The amp is mounted inbetween my subs that sit right behind the strut bar. the amp sits right in the middle of the speakers and is perfectly in line with the z on the strut bar but the back of the amp rests raised on a platform (so the front is low and the back is high) agenst the speaker bar and glove box compartments. I will try to post a pic if i havea good one.
