Nobody's mentioned LaR.com yet? It's worth a good laugh or 20

"RICE" is not the same as TASTELESS or STUPID, although these are not mutually exclusive. i.e. something can be both "RICE" and STUPID.
the real origin of rice actually started when people started making their base model cars look like more expensive loaded models. Your description fits what started happening shortly after.
As a case in point, lets look at the Veilside Version 3 body kit. While it may be excessive in terms of its design, the intention of such a design is to give the impression of a superior performance machine. If your vehicle has what it takes under the hood, one could argue that the application of the kit in this circumstance is definitely not "RICE".
I could easily argue that a 1000hp z is still rice with a functionless body kit. Functionless mods that are meant make something appear to do something it does not=RICE.

"As for school i double majored in Sociology and Philosophy of Religion"

Wow, what do you do for a living? Teach? J/K I know people with the same degrees and they all have some crappy business job they hate or they went to grad school.

I saw the biggest ricer z today. Brickyard, greddy graphics but no engine mods (I have seen the car before, inside and out), Huge double tier wing on the back, the guy races everyone in sight but get this...it is an AUTO. I have no probs with an auto but when you are a 17 year old kid who puts all the **** on the car that he does and tries to race everything in sight ya really gotta have a stick. I'll get a pic next time we are both getting an oil change which is when I usually see the car, and the techs make fun of him.

before anyone makes a really big deal and say it isnt worth the weight savings etc etc let me just say that everyone here that is screaming cf is gay blah blah blah seem to also be the same ones arguing for "only functional" add ons. wouldnt painting the cf defeat part of the purpose of the cf by adding weight albeit might not be much but still none the less thats kinda contradicting ones self isnt it??

Its a shame what the fast and the furious did to excellent japanese sports cars. Thanks to that movie no car is safe from rice and whats so bad about it is that some good aftermarket companies are going the f&f route with outrageous body kits. How bad is the rice epidemic in the other parts of the U.S because it hasn't Hit houston so bad. I may see 2 or 3 riced out cars a day

The ultimate rice factor for me is any car with body kits nonmatching body kit pieces, that are hanging loose, and are primer grey. I seem to see a lot of cars around here in Tampa looking like that.

Sounds like everything I plan to do to my Z is considered rice. Thats ok though I guess since obviously every car on the road seems to have somehting rice about it is its not factory.
