Default Things that are annoying me about my Z!!!

Took her on the highway tonight and noticed two things. About 50+ mph I noticed that on my drivers side window I notice quite a bit of wind noise. Also about 60+mph i hear this annoying rattling going on either in the center console where the radio is or on the passenger dash. I only have 400 miles on my car so far. Is this normal for this car?

I've been hearing more road noises as well now, specially the rattling. I just assumed the colder the weather gets up here now that we are nearing winter has caused the hinges and whatnots to rattle more because they are cold and not warm/hot as when you are in the summer.

But you are in Atlanta, it should still be pretty warm down there, right?

I have rattle from my rear view mirror... but there is a fix for this

I am making a list of annoying stuff - and I give it to my dealer => they must love me for this one... I already have 5 things to be done on my next service visit.

Must love the warranty and cool service advisors!

1. Had rattles, got them fixed, got more rattles, got them fixed. This has been going on for almost 3 years.
2. Tire noise + feathering.

it happens. no car is perfect. i drove a jaguar xj8 and a mercedes E500 that rattled like crazy. think about it, these cars are bending and twisting throughout all of the driviing you do, and eventually, it will rattle.

My experience so far is that when it gets colder..like down to the 50's or less.... you will get many more rattles than usual when the temp is in the 80's. My guess is that its just a result of too much plastic being used with not enough tight fitting joints or rubber insulation between joints. Oh well... still love the car.

There's a TSB for the rattle that you describe.

I havnt had any rattles or anything and im just passing 900 miles. Although i do hear a slight wind noise when im going a good bit of speed. But that is to be expected... going so fast and then lines of the Z just push the air right over the car and force it down more, and as the window travels over the hood and around the front windshield , the gap between the mirrors and the A pillar will make a little bit of noise... also when the air curls around the window seal... you will also get some of this noise... but hey just turn up the tunes! and push the pedal down more and listen to the roar of the motor and have fuN!

If there was no passenger side belt clip holder, I think I would lose it. I hate it when passenger get out of the car and forget to buckle their seatbelt onto the clip.

I had rattles on the ends of the dashpad on top only every 5th day or so this fall. I haven't had any rattles for the first two years. I found that if I took a couple of peices of rubber 3/8 vacuum line and placed it between the window and dash pad all of my rattles went away. Apparently, the colder weather did change the fit of the dash. In warm or hot weather not a peep. The hose is black and looks like it belongs. Just a 1" peice about 1" from the ends of the dash between the window and dashboard did it for me.

Rattle free for over 12K now. The only sound I here now is that exhaust note. That is music to my ears.

The shape of the car contributes I think to the windnoise.

I'm coming up on 3 years/30k miles. I used to experience a buzzing/rattling noise from my window and dash area. Started around the low thousands and continued intermittently to maybe the low teens. Couldn't pinpoint it. Very irritating at first. It stopped all by itself. Car has been rattle and vibration free (knock on wood).

Well I just washed my car today for the first time and I noticed that some of the water got inside the car through the top of the window. I think the rubber lining on my drivers side window may not be pushing up against my window like it's supposed to. Also while I was driving I pushed back some of the rubber lining and I noticed the wind noise was even worse. I'll try and take pics later so you can see what I'm talking about.

I bought a 1995 Dodge truck brand new. It has never had a rattle and I off road it often. The Nissan dealer tried to use the excuse of stiff sports car suspension as the cause and that i should expect it. My 4x4 truck has stiffer suspension, is used off road thus has more excuses to rattle than the Z yet it does not.

I do not accept that rattles are acceptable regardless if it is a Z or not and I would hate to assume Nissan cannot keep up with Dodge on built quality.
