Default what matches what?

You might also try comparing your car to another CS and another SS to see exactly what matches what (assuming something matches something). That could give you a starting point and perhaps some leverage.

Good luck!

As I said, most of the colors they are using are the exact same color codes as they are using on Altimas and some other cars. Sometimes you get the appearance of mismatch due to light. The only way to truly see the difference is to use an electronic device that can tell the difference between shades.

I have a Silverstone and I specifically looked for color mismatch and don't see a thing. I have been told that DB is the only one that is being acknowledged as an issue by Nissan.

I used to think it was the angle of the sun but today in Maryland it was a rainy day and it looked even worse. I know it's because the lower panels are made of plastic and the paint takes differently but I really think mine is a lot worse than most. I know I'm not the only one with this problem. Orange Peel..No problem, but I definatly didn't order a two-toned colored Z. I'm contemplating going to the dealer to complain. I'm usually not a sqeaky wheel but I think I have a point on this one. Tell me it isn't that bad....
I can see the difference easily, but I don't think it is bad, but if it is really bothering you, take it to the dealer and complain. you can see it in the pics and I would show them the pics too, in case they are color blind. A lot of people are, so take the car in on a day that is right for the dealer to see the differences.

Guys my car is CS not SS. Funny right...The bottom looks like CS and the top SS. Anyway I called my dealer...Got an appt in the morning. Taking pics with me for the colorblind. XXX SSR-GT3's. Go to the wheel and tire forum and do a search for more info.

Here it doesn't look all that bad.

Default mismatch

How do you suppose the mismatch happened? Are the rocker/lower panels painted separately? Did someone pick the wrong lower body panel by mistake during assembly?

We have only seen the driver's side, is the passenger side the same mismatch? Can the passenger side be photographed, too? The more I look at the pics, the stranger the color difference becomes.

I find the mis-match both appalling, and appealing!

TRACK350Z's car looks like CS, yours, only the side skirts look CS in the pics... That's no good!

I've been told by my dealer that Nissan has acknowledged color mismatch is an issue with Daytona Blue and is correcting the problem. Most of the other colors have already been used on the Altima or other cars.

When I went to a dealer in my area to see a Z in person for the first time they had two CS models on the floor, the paint mismatch was one of the first things I noticed, one was slightly worse than the other. My own CS is also off a bit, but not enough to request a repaint. If your photos are a good representation of your situation I don't think I could accept it. There has been painted plastic parts on cars for years and I didn't think that color matching was a problem any longer. TRACK350z your color is off too, can't you see it?

What is being done about this for DB cars? I have a DB and I notice a difference. Should this be something to contact Nissan about or the dealership???

Well, here's what happened to me: I originally ordered a DB Enthusiast that was to be delivered about Dec 10th. I was told that Nissan noticed mismatch problems on the Murano which uses the same paint code and confirmed the problem on the Z. I was told that all DBs being shipped were being reinspected for the issue. Any of them that turned up with the issue were being held and not delivered.

I was told that the issue was a result of a paint additive they use on the plastic parts (bumpers, gas cover, etc) to allow the paint to flex. The additive was slightly altering the shade of the color.

Apparently, they have resolved the issue and corrected the process but some orders for new DBs are being delayed.

I asked what about people that currently have DBs and the dealer wasn't sure. My personal feeling is that Nissan is going to say that you were able to inspect the car and if it was a problem you should have said something when you took delivery.

I would like to preface all of this with the fact this is all coming from my dealer and I haven't been able to confirm whether this is a fact or just BS. I ended up with a Silverstone instead of DB. Although, whenever I first mentioned the issue in a thread SEVERAL people posted pics of their DBs that seemed to clearly display the issue. I have since seen a DB up close and didn't notice it on the car. Maybe the level of mismatch varies?

The splash guards may be off slightly, but, other than that, I believe TRACK350's car matches extremely close.......unless you're looking at different pics than I am.
