props to my local nissan dealer and NNA
It seems like I see a lot of b******g about dealers and NNA on this board so I thought I'd give you my recent experience with them.
I too had the infamous "tire roar" issue when I bought my 03' a couple months ago. When I bought the car I also received the letter from Nissan about the recall. I took my car into my local dealer to have them inspect the tires. These were almost brand new tires on the front, having just been replaced a few months ago, also under warrenty by the car's original owner. The dealership inspected the tires and said that I was indeed eligable for a full replacement. They told me that the Potenzas were on back order and that it would be a few weeks.
Since the rears were about shot and I didn't really want to put Potenza's back on the car, I called NNA and asked them if they would re-imburse me for the cost of new front tires if I changed brands. I was told that as long as I replaced them with either Goodyears or Michlins and I kept the OEM size or increased them to 50's from 45's, I would be reimbursed.
I ordered new Michlins (OEM size) from discount tire and had a local tire shop mount them and align my car. I sent NNA copies of all my invoices about a month ago. I received a call last week from the same fellow who gave me the original information and was told that a check was being cut for me and I'd have it in a week or two. I even received a followup call today to assure me that the check was on it's way. I'm even being reimbursed for the mounting and alignment.
That is what I call "good customer service". It just goes to show that when you follow their guidelines and play by their rules, they will be fair.

My dealership is cooler than yours though. They gave me a free keychain ^^. My dealership rocks. They're so nice. Freehold Nissan DHC!
(for real though, they're really nice and quick)

I just took my car in yesterday, let them know I knew about the TSB on tire roar. They called me within an hour and said the tires would be replaced free of charge. Picked my car up later that evening with a new set of Michelin Pilot AS, and did the alinment. I signed a warrenty invoice for $700. It didn't cost me a thing.
